KSR, sorry. ()()()()()() And yes, 4, 5 or 6 and about equal F and NF... Also, about half are being read with others, so discussions are always ongoing. Including what to read next and what read might take a different stance than the current one. And yes... once the story needs to resolve, it can just dominate. And a while back, Friday night brief read might stop because I wanted breakfast. So the odd all-nighter, especially if no 'work' the following day. Current solo reads are; "Who We Are and How We Got Here" - by David Reich and "The Warriors of Dawn" by M. A. Foster.

Thanks, Morgan! I'm in much worse shape... I have about 10 books that I've started and another 10 that I'm currently using. On top of that, I have my textbooks for college. I'm starting to get things organized. As always, thanks for the inspiration. I don't know why, but after watching your videos, I always feel motivated to take action :)

Reading five books simultaneously sounded a lot at first, but then looking at my own reading habits my view changed. I reead at least two books parallel myself, one for fun and one for research / work. On the work side, that number can increase rapidly, depending on the amount of reference I need. My current reeds are: "The technological development of the bow and crossbow in the later middle ages" by Stuart Gorman. Thats a Ph.D Thesis I reed for research. For fun it is "Der Papiermagier". Thats a german translation of a novel fromCharlie N. Holmberg Best wishes from Germany and keep having fun reading

I have watched this video several times trying to wrap my brain around how the numbering system works, and this video (along with the one of your mom starting her own Zettlekasten) has been the closest I've gotten to understanding it. But I still have a brain block on how it works. I'm not using mine for research papers or writing (yet), I'm just getting it started, and so far the only thing I have started is the Bibliography bc I didn't have to use a numbering system. 🙃

I definitely see the merits of reading multiple books at a time. I only read non-fiction, but in about 15 different subjects that I'm interested in. When I finish one, I'll start another in that subject. That old chestnut, "Neurons that fire together, wire together" - I think that helps the learning process. I just like learning things & how to be a better human.

I am currently reading: Elisa Gabbert - The Unreality of Memory (nonfiction, paperback) Zeyn Joukhadar - The Thirty Names of Night (fiction, paperback) Ling Ma - Bliss Montage (fiction, audiobook) and have been slowly working my way through 2 poetry collections (Rilke in German and Rumi in English) and a tarot workbook (The Tarot Spreads Yearbook by Chelsey Pippin Mizzi). So between 3 and 6 depending on how you count.

Hi, I'm bringing this up not as a critique but in hopes of letting you (and other fans of the Three Body Problem series) the controversy surrounding the author. He has made some comment about Muslim Uighurs and the reeducation camps in China. This youtuber deeps a little more on the topic and cites the source of that interview: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4a0i3esesqNqJIsi=JSYNaMzRAbu4iG_k I have mixed feelings about the novel and the characters, but my decision to stop reading the series wasn't because of the story per se, but the author and his views. Of course is everyone's personal decision to continue or not supporting the author and his works; I do believe everyone should be informed so they can make that decision.

I've realized I'm a chaotic reader "Where do you keep the book you're reading?" aNyWheRe "When do you read?" whenever i have free time, or not exactly free, sometimes I read even if I'm in class/working 😅😅😅

Omg my reading habits are just like yours! I start reading a book and want to read another one, when I realize I'm reading like 5 books at once 😅 But still, you definitely read a lot more than I do, because of your PhD in humanities. I came out of my personal reading limbo with "Flowers to Algernon", 10/10! :)

Thank you for the explanation. I am an Academic coach for college students and I've been looking for better ways to teach my students study habits. This falls in there somewhere but I haven't made the connection to studying specifically for an exam yet. I still need to help students in STEM classes as well. This is a start, though!

Love your videos, and congrats on submitting the chapter! I’ve also read parts of Elizabeth Freeman’s Time Binds-her concept of chrononormativity is fascinating. I’m also really interested in non-normative (non-colonial/heteropatriarchal and non-anthropocentric) understandings of temporality and different ways of experiencing the flow of time, so the books you’re reading now are intriguing… and I’d love to hear more about your research on this!

Your system is so very elegant, thank you for sharing. I feel quite validated after seeing this video for the first time. I had not heard of zettelkasten when I went to university in the 1970s for my bachelor's. To overcome my total lack of research and writing skill (never learned in high school) I was forced to invent my own primitive card indexing system for writing all my papers. While I was gently ridiculed for using this by bemused fellow students, the index card system was a huge assist not only in organizing my key points -- but in letting me know when I had done adequate research, and to start actual writing.

Pro tip for gaining effectivity. Hang upside down for 5min. With effective disorders hormones cause our cortisol to spike and we panic about needing to do something AND AT THE VERY SAME TIME we need blood to the brain, it shrinks our blood vessels in the brain keeping us from focus. Try it

this is awesome! I had never heard about the Zettlekasten system before. Really looking forward to learning it and using obsidian more efficiently. I had a questioin about how you would incorporate information from classes on here? Would you label it through the class or through the texts that the class engages with? what about ideas that emerge from the class itself? thank you again for this wonderful information
