THIS CAR BRINGS BACK MEMORIES! Of laying under my grannies '80 Cadillac Deville in a blizzard putting a starter in for the 900th time cause the threads were stretched and damn starter would fall out. Worst GM diesel ever! And yeah I've had em all! Lol

Um, gelled up fuel? Did it not have winter diesel in it? I get it that minus 20 is seriously cold (for an European like me) but I suppose in Canada you also get winter diesel at the pump in cold weather, like us here? (Netherlands) Nice car btw!

Yup everything is sorted apart from an oxygen sensor code. After a lot of troubleshooting looks like the ECU is the culprit; so I'm just going to roll with it.

You're correct. While there are no related codes, the front diff doesn't lock all the time. Rear diff locks correctly though.

Haha, that's pretty slow but it would be much peppier with a 4 or 5 speed manual. It's not as bad as I thought anyway. Must be damn nice to drive anyhow! Hey if I could I would chuck in an ZF8 auto for shits and giggles and see how much it improves driveability and acceleration. :D I'm pretty sure this engine will run on anything liquid, greasy and flammable you feed it? :)

Hello there, could I use a fragment of your video for my coldstarting compilation? Of course I will put a link to your original video in the description, increasing the original’s popularity too. Thanks a lot for you answer in advance :) Love that car! Compared to what we drove here in 1982 (Poland, behind the iron curtain back then) it's a true land yacht.

Great video, I am planning to do the opposite and replace my 3.7 with the hemi. I believe you can really give me some insight to my swap. Did you have to replace the BCM, TIPM or any other modules? Thanks
@BoysToysAndAFarmАй бұрын
Yes if you want everything to operate 100% with no warning lights all associated modules need to be swapped. 3.7 will be slightly different then my swap, additionally the year of the commander will also make a difference.

Some 2009/2010 bikes also had fuel pump issues. I had mine fail 3 months after buying it brand new but fortunately got it changed by the dealer. That was 13 years and almost 500 hrs ago and been fine since.

What kind of final gear ratio do you have on your XK? I know WK 3.0 CRD have 3.55 in Laredo and 3.73 in Liminted or North(towing package). I found 3.73 trasmission feels like have diabled sprag on OD( AKA tow mode all the time), while 3.55 trasmission feels like coasting all the time, and there is significant differnce in fuel economy too. Anyway, great project, i might want to do one next year!
@BoysToysAndAFarmАй бұрын
If I remember correctly in Canada all 3.0crds were 3.73, and likewise the XK hemi was also 3.73.

The slowness was worth it for the extra MPGs. The 4.1L V8 gas engine was originally rated at 14 city 19 highway 16 combined average. The 5.7 V8 diesel was originally rated at 23 city 37 highway 27 combined average. I'd like to hear from someone who actually owns the diesel if that rating is accurate though. I'm sure it gets much better fuel mileage than the gas engine but 37mph highway seems pretty high. If it really got that much I'd find one and daily drive it!
@algernonilfracombe5 ай бұрын
No offence but I bet Cadillac buyers could shell out for gas money. Shame both the 4.1 and 5.7 diesel were pretty crappy in terms of reliability. IMO they should have tried the V6 turbo from Buick instead

I always liked the late 70s-80s GM Diesels. It's too bad they had so many problems at the start which gave them a bad reputation. A big old land yacht that could get 30mpg!

fun test. I noticed that it’s most comfortable to drive on light off-road conditions at level 2 or 3; the suspension handles especially softly in any wet mud. and grips better without falling off the top of the track. It’s also interesting that the height of the 60 tires also fits into the arch. I thought that no more than the standard 225 55 is suitable. You have interesting videos from off-road, I didn’t think that Allroad was capable of this

No real need to, the ESP takes over and will apply brakes to wheel that is slipping and limit engine RPM and move power to wheels that are fixed but not moving. It’s an interesting feeling when your driving one and the ESP takes over at slower speeds, you have a tendency to push down on the throttle more during a climb situation, and the ESP takes over …

Great video but I'm confused by you saying its blue plated i.e. street legal, but you had to add signal lights, so was yours the FE 570 S or the plain FE 570 (no 'S')? In Canada I'd have thought they come with signal lights from factory, or at least wired to install their lights kit, but you had to install your own wiring. Maybe yours came with the same rear 'signal lights' mine has, which really isn't a pair of lights at all but a tail/brake light that blinks on the left or right side of the single light, which I'd think shouldn't even be legal since how can someone behind tell which side is blinking? It's light weight and nothing to get ripped off but I may have to add separate signal lights which may be to do what you did. I was hoping I could just tie into the same wiring for the stock signal light in that 'one light does all' one but maybe you found that was impossible and it required separate wiring to be installed.
@BoysToysAndAFarm10 ай бұрын
Mine is simply FE570, no "s". It was registered for the street already when I bought it, even though it didn't have signal lights or mirrors etc. I suspect when the bike was new it was registered for the street using a fake safety; hence the missing accessories. It did already have brake lights from both brakes.
