Our mortal bodies are dead because of sin, but because Christ is in us, our spirits are alive. Because we have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us he will raise our bodies up on the last day in incorruption, glory and power. If we live after the flesh we will die; but, we have a debt to God to put our flesh to death and live unto righteousness.

Really enjoying your Gospel teaching. I believe the most famous scripture is now "judge not lest you be judged"
To have a spiritual mind means that you’ve been saved and the Holy Spirit lives within you. Thus, to be spiritually minded is life and peace. If the spirit of God dwells in you you are not in the flesh.

He briefly talks about the false prophets, he said there WERE false prophets, now he says to be worried about FALSE TEACHERS people and points of how people will deny the divinity of Christ. Which was prophetic because then certain heretics used private interpretation to deny Christs divinity. So i think he’s also saying we shouldn’t privately interpret scripture.

To have a fleshly mind means that all of your thoughts and actions result in sin and none of them please God. This carnal mind means death. That mind is enmity against God and can not be subject to his law. Therefore those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Quick deep question. Paul says it's not the new him that sins but the old him. So we're perfect in God's sight through what Christ accomplished in His obedience to the law, so are we keeping it perfectly in God's sight as well? I have a hard time trying to think about pleasing God in my daily walk but believe I'm doing it through my union with Christ?

Yes, when you walk (live) in the Spirit you fulfill the righteousness of the law. This is an amazing benefit of having the Spirit of God indwell us. In fact, from Romans 8:4 through verse 27 there are 15 things the Holy Spirit does for us, from within us! See if you can find them. Or, you can wait until I post the lessons on Romans Lesson 45 up to Lesson 51.

“Minding” the things of the flesh means living according to your fleshly desires without regard to God’s law. This is “carnal minded” death. In the flesh you cannot please God. Having a spiritual mind brings life and peace to the soul of each believer. The spirit of God dwells within you if you have been born again; you are therefore not in the “flesh.”

Walking in the Spirit means: being born again and indwelt by the Spirit; doing the good works God has prepared to you to do (EPH 2:10); using your spiritual gifts; developing the fruit of the Spirit in you; warring against your sin; not quitting; fulfilling the righteous of the law. Those who walk in the Spirit have been saved in Christ Jesus and are not condemned by God. Those who walk in the flesh are condemned by God as they live lives to gratify their fleshly desires.

Not unto death, some will be rewarded and some of the suffers loss. I belive in 1st corintians This is nothing to do with salvation. For it is a free gift.The elect are the Jewish remnant. We are the body. I don't mean to sound direct. I just don't want to go into a long apologetic. Opinion, so this is meant with respect and kindness. The law is spiritual but I am carnal, sold under sin. Sin will be with us until we die and thus our internal warfare with sin is ongoing. Our desire to keep the law of God often collides with our indwelling sin to produce conflict. Who will deliver us from this body of death? Jesus will, thank you Lord!

We can think we are alive “without the law.” Because we do not understand the law, we think we are self-righteous, blameless, secure and at peace with God. However, in reality the law is spiritual and demands an inner righteousness which we don't have. Obeying the law should have brought life, but instead our failure to obey it brings only death.
@BIbleStudyVersebyVerseАй бұрын
Before we understood the nature of the God’s law, we could think that we were blameless before God. But, when the spiritual and holy nature of the law is revealed to us, then we see that we have no self-righteousness. Our sin is amplified when we understand the spiritual requirements of the law. The law is holy, just and good. And, our sin is our own. The law is not the cause of our sin; but, when we understand the law, it makes our sin “exceedingly sinful.”
@BIbleStudyVersebyVerseАй бұрын
The “letter” of the law requires that we continue to do it all, and if we do not, we are cursed! The law is the “strength” of sin. Jesus was made under the law and fulfilled all the law so that we can be dead to the law through the body of Christ. We are then freed to serve God acceptably in the Spirit and not in the letter of the law. It is unthinkable that God’s law should be considered to be sin; for by it we know what sin is. When the law is removed, then sin dies.

Always SPIRITUAL OLDER men who did the pastoring/bishoprick wherever the local body was... No denominations, no church titles, no church membership etc...

The law, in conjunction with sin, has “dominion” over all of mankind: it is in control, in charge and ruling us, for all of our lives. It has us in a “death grip.” It demands our obedience and regulates our behavior. Only our death toward sin can free us from the grip of the law. This death is provided for us by Christ. We are dead to the dominion of the law and sin by Christ’s death; and, we are married to Christ by his resurrection. This God does for us, in order to produce in us good fruit to honor him.

God has promised to take us “within the veil,” by the Lord Jesus, into the Holy of Holies in heaven, and to anchor our souls there. This is Jesus’ high priestly work to bring us into the presence of God. Our job is to diligently and patiently labor as we believe God; and, not be slothful in our obedience to him.

The Apostle says we are to grow up in Christ, leave the basic doctrines, become teachers and have good fruit in our lives. All the things the Church of Hebrews needed to learn to do. They did have love toward their brothers in the church and needed to build upon that to grow up to maturity in Christ. They needed to stop being slothful and start being diligent in the things of the Lord in order to put them on the course toward assurance of salvation.

God saves us eternally by a new birth into his kingdom. However, it is possible to only have the “appearance” of salvation. What does that look like? What are its results? Those who are born again produced fruit in their lives. But, can you be saved without producing fruit in your life? What happens to those without fruit? What are some examples of people who came close to the Kingdom of God but did not make it?

In order to progress to maturity as a Christian one has to (with God’s help) retain the foundational doctrines of Christianity and continue to grow up in knowledge and experience. The basic doctrines include: repentance, faith, baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. All these must be mastered, and kept in mind, in order to move on to maturity in the deeper things of God.

Thank you for your video. Can I ask you about James 3:1 [1] Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly. Is this speaking of a different type of teaching role?
@BIbleStudyVersebyVerse8 күн бұрын
@@ashleyodell3778 Yes, the two places (Hebrews 5:12-14 and James 3:1) are talking about different things. Hebrews is talking about the responsibility that each Christian has to grow up in the faith so that in the normal conversations of life they can accurately give what God’s word says in order to help others. James is talking about the gift of teaching given by the Holy Spirit for teaching the church. It must be used carefully.

Being dull in “spiritual hearing” has the serious result that you can’t receive the deep things of God. It brings stagnation and is a barrier to spiritual maturity. Dullness can be caused by a preoccupation with the world, business, pleasure, money and many other things that steal our focus from God and his word. Hearing and understanding God’s word is a skill which can be practiced and improved. One of it’s benefits is an ever-closer walk with God.

Dullness in “spiritual hearing” has many causes, but one serious result: you can't “hear” the deep things of God. Every Christian has a responsibility to be a teacher (within the circumstances God has placed them) as they mature in Christ. Milk is for baby Christians. Strong meat belongs to mature Christians who because they exercise their spiritual senses can concern good and evil.

Jesus prayed for deliverance in the garden, from his upcoming death, with strong crying, tears and blood. His prayer was heard by the Father, because he feared God, but the answer was that he must suffer the law's penalty of death in order to pay for the sins of his people. Jesus’ prayer was heard, but he was not delivered from death. He who knew no sin became sin for us, so that we could be made the righteousness of God in him.
