Hebrews 6:1-3 “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on to perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit.”

In order to progress to maturity as a Christian one has to (with God’s help) retain the foundational doctrines of Christianity and continue to grow up in knowledge and experience. ‭ The basic doctrines include: repentance, faith, baptisms, laying on of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. All these must be mastered, and kept in mind, in order to move on to maturity in the deeper things of God.
