@@MorgansWorld760Yes. As a British person, you have the right not to understand the pain that Poles are going through after losing this city. It is as Polish as Krakow or Warsaw. Fate has historically linked this ROYAL city forever with the hearts of Poles. Now, when the Russians are destroying the monuments of this city, the heart bleeds even more. The Polish government has already offered the Ukrainian authorities assistance in the reconstruction of Lviv.

@@MorgansWorld760 It is true that the history of Poland is very complex. Gdańsk is an example of this. Although historically it is a Polish city and during its existence it was also within the borders of Prussia and systematically Germanized. Gdańsk owes its wonderful history to both Germans and Poles. As islanders, you do not have such complex problems with your country's borders. I wish you good luck in your travels.

9 years ago, I decided to hit the "Reset" button on my entire life, and with no real plan or actual idea of what I would do, I literally bought a one-way ticket from my lifelong home in Salt Lake City to Frankfurt, Germany and decided to see what fate had in store for me. Well, after 3 months of random travel, 7 different countries, a dozen different cities, a new culture and language every couple of weeks, all of them beautiful and historic in their own unique way, I decided to visit Poland, specifically Krakow, which I had heard was a lovely place. Well, long story short, that was 9 years back, and I am still here in my new, adopted home of Krakow, where in the past 9 years I have found an exciting, rewarding new career teaching English (I taught History and Geography in a public high school Salt Lake for many years, which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, in general, American high school students are arrogant, entitled and lazy, and that is describing the GOOD ones) I have bought my own place (for a fraction of what real estate sells for in the U.S.) and best of all, I met the woman of my dreams, the person I have been searching for my entire life, literally the most intelligent, sensitive, kind and stunningly beautiful woman I have ever known and we got married in 2019. Anyway, I am glad you enjoyed your time in amazing Krakow---The Polish people are wonderful, open, accepting, warm and friendly and if you ever get back over this way, get in touch, we can meet for a piwo and toast to the joys of travel and adventure... Cheers, Matthew

@@MorgansWorld760 On September 1, 1939, Warsaw had 1,300,000 residents. On August 1, 1944 [the day then Warsaw Uprising began], 900,000. After its fall, 63 days later, fewer than 1,000 people remained in the ruins, because the districts that the Germans had retaken were being displaced. Warsaw was then "only" about 25% destroyed. On Hitler's orders, the capital of Poland was to be destroyed. From October to December 1944, the Germans burned and blew up the surviving buildings - especially those important to Polish culture. The insurgents fought for a free Poland, independent from Stalin. It was not until 1989 that we got rid of the communist rule.
