Everything is VERY dry in Sarasota FL area. Rode my bike yesterday and today (25 miles each day) along The Legacy Trail (rail trail) and every creek, stream & ditch is bone dry. 82° each day & a bit humid. We're in our dry season. No gators out along the trail 😊. Great video!

Those downed trees are why I get very leery when the wind picks up in the forest. It's crazy how big they are! I like to carry my Silky Saw on trails like this in case I need to do some impromptu trail maintenance to make it a little easier for me and others. Looks like an awesome trail😃

Hi T- great hike for a late fall day! The trail is in really good shape, I didn’t notice any major muddy sections, that’s a huge bonus. Pretty lake and beaver pond- very peaceful. So cool to see a few ducks, I bet they feel sheltered and protected on the lake. We haven’t done this hike before, but will add it to our wish list. 👌😄🌲🌲🌲Gotta love those mossy trees! Jen
@HikerT12 күн бұрын
This one is super easy to get to being super close to I-5. I only noticed the freeway noise at the top of that ridge though - otherwise it was remarkably quiet. I didn't see many muddy sections either. Really just one that I can recall and it was small and easy to get around. I guess that's pretty remarkable too! haha

Hi guys - one of my favorite places in Seattle! When we were kids we would go have a picnic and watch the boats coming and going! We’d also try to see some salmon at the fish ladder too. Thanks for all the historical info- I’ve never looked into the history or management of the Locks. The arboretum looks beautiful and relaxing! Sorry to hear about the weather issues and downed trees… Hope it gets cleared up soon. 👌 Jen 😄
@HikerT18 күн бұрын
That would be a great place for a picnic. In warmer weather you could really spend a lot of time watching all the boats coming and going while you ate. More boats coming through in the summer too. I'd kind of like to take my kayak through and see what it's like. My mom said I went through the locks on my grandpa's boat when I was 7 or so, but I don't remember that at all ☹
@JenniferLupine17 күн бұрын
@ Would be fun if they had an old photo! I’ve seen kayaks go through, sometimes tied up to the side of a small boat. There’s lots of boat traffic on the long summer days! 👌☀️☀️

Thanks for watching! I knew a little about these locks, but bought a book about them at the visitor center gift shop, and learned so much more! There were arguments for years about where the locks should go - mostly because of who owned the land around each proposed site haha. Everyone wanted it on their property to capitalize off it. 😆

Reminded of growing up very close to the Erie Canal Lock E20 in Marcy, NY, part of the New York State Barge Canal system. My dad loved to watch the boats go through. A Chinese junk boat went through once, that was some real small town excitement. Stay warm!

@HikerT23 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting! I knew I wanted a van style RV, and they are about $100k brand new, at least $50k if you have someone else build it out. Total including vehicle on my build was $33k, and I got to make sure it was not just stamped out at a factory and glued together, so I feel like it will last longer and definitely is very personalized this way. ☺ It's been a fun project!

You can ride it over Snoqaulmie Pass where it becomes the Iron horse and john wayne trail all the way to the washington Idaho state line then the trail becomes the Coeur d' alenes trail. It the former mainline of the Milwaukee Road RR grade that ran from washington to chicago.

@@HikerT it is everywhere up here! It really does choke out the native plants. It's nice to look at for a little bit, but when it invades everywhere it is frustrating. Yeah, hopefully the efforts in that park work. It looks like they did a pretty thorough job of cutting it down.
