I just got my hazmats and triple but I got to wait 7 weeks for tsa to clear my background check so my hazmats can be on my license. I’m looking everyday for a ltl company to join

do you need endorsements? haz, doubles, triples?

I don't miss food service at all. Left after a year and went to flatbed. I am wondering how much experience is needed to get on with RL Carriers because I know a guy that has about 6 month garbage truck experience and is talking bout leaving that for RL because a driver told him that he makes $500 a day and is home everyday. I personally have 7 years experience with oil fields, dry box and refer. I'm just trying to picture someone with 6 months experience of garbage truck drivin making $500 a day.

Just word of advice when dropping your tail trailer before you pull forward lock your glad hands to the mounts in the basket and you will never loose air. Or cut off the air supply from your lead and bleed the air and let it free wheel. But since you just starting connect your glad hands to the dolly basket and you will be OK. Stay safe out there and keep the rubber side down.

I was an LTL driver for 30 years, i'm retired now an don't miss it one bit. It has changed so much in the last 20 years. I used to love my job.....when i retired i hated to go work. I was with CF for the 1st 16 years. Got a decent retirement. Last 14 years with non-union carrier.....no overtime pay an it sucked.

I’m going to pfg in nj, we got all electric jacks in our trucks and lift gates. 13 years with ltl, LTL is slow right now currently at od.

I’m leaving Linehaul 13 years, to go to performance food group. it’s slow at odfl I hate it.

I’m glad I keep finding videos like this. I just started with prime inc. Got until January to get my 1 year in. There’s an RnL terminal in Pa that’s right down the road . I think LTL may be better for me than OTR.

How are the deliveries done? Do you have count like lose items make sure everything is there or everything is packed in boxes you just scan and make site is for the right costumer?

All customers need their freight, not just restaurants. I’ve been doing LTL P&D for 20 years, bring backs are pretty rare, I have maybe one every three weeks or so. The company should pay for all equipment needed to do the job.

No OT pay? Ok, I'm not applying now. I make under $4 less driving for Amazon, but I get OT every week at my location, and it's closer than the R&L locations close to me. It wouldn't be a net positive for my income.

If anyone thinks that route is hard in anyway do not! DO NOT try to work for sysco. That is a baby route over here at sysco. Hahaha smallest route i have had in the last year is 600-700 cases. Normally 800 plus and 15-19 stops.

endured orientation in order to see what the actual job was. mind yo u i am a 15 yr owner op so yes sometimes you can't teach an old dog new tricks. was put with a trainer who was proud of yrs with schneider and 6 months with rl. did his d ue diligence to make sure everyone we came in contact with that i was a rookie and a trainee. they told me that i would have my own truck. not true, our truck was shared with line haul driver. hopefully you own your power pallet jack, if not you can purchase one from rl for 4300 at 25 a week. you can probably make up for the pallet jack by lollygaggin at customers and plotting the longest routes back to terminal which is what my so called trainer made it apparent that that was his routine.

I work for R&L too. 100% ALL LtL companies should provide electric jacks to their drivers. I’m glad RL pays for them up front & we pay back $25 per week. Great program

So when you've just barely made your delivery on time, and am out of hours completely, and the places doesn't have parking, and there's no parking outside of the facility, you're supposed to fold the truck up and shove it, 'er put it in your pocket

I just got hired on with Old Dominion as a Combo driver. I’m so excited but so nervous to drive further distances and pulling doubles. I’ve only ever driven 300 miles round trip pulling a 53 foot trailer.
