It'll be 6 months in October, but I'll do it a month early! I left foodservice for LTL and I haven't looked back since! I highly recommend it! Instagram - @t1truckin TikTok - t1truckin Facebook - T1TRUCKIN

Great to see you around my guy! LTL seems to have a lot less stress compared to Food Service. Thats awesome you have your own tractor. I've actually never heard of having your own tractor haha. Good to see your happy & enjoying the run. Also, im not sure if I said this before, but congrats on getting over 1k subs! Hope youre doing well.

I understand the change brother! My first-time in food service was at PFG Customized Division out of a drop yard in Fairless Hills, PA (aka Trenton, NJ) for 3 months. Then I quit, and move to NY and joins Gordon Food Service it has been two years so far! 5 months ago I got a transfer to a new drop yard closer to my home, now I'm only driving 20 minutes instead of an hour! I've thought about beer delivery before!

You like gfs over pfg?
@ezeikelnewton91078 ай бұрын
@@kevmoe6636 I like GFS better we are hourly instead of component pay. I drive a 28' Pup trailer instead of a 48' trailer. Though GFS is all ramp compare to PFG the workloads are lighter.

I’m glad I keep finding videos like this. I just started with prime inc. Got until January to get my 1 year in. There’s an RnL terminal in Pa that’s right down the road . I think LTL may be better for me than OTR.

LTL is lousy & so is Food Service but FS is a back breaker & knee buster finger smashing experience LTL is physically better but you have to deal with city dispatch too much

endured orientation in order to see what the actual job was. mind yo u i am a 15 yr owner op so yes sometimes you can't teach an old dog new tricks. was put with a trainer who was proud of yrs with schneider and 6 months with rl. did his d ue diligence to make sure everyone we came in contact with that i was a rookie and a trainee. they told me that i would have my own truck. not true, our truck was shared with line haul driver. hopefully you own your power pallet jack, if not you can purchase one from rl for 4300 at 25 a week. you can probably make up for the pallet jack by lollygaggin at customers and plotting the longest routes back to terminal which is what my so called trainer made it apparent that that was his routine.

Do the linehaul guys at your terminal also have assigned trucks? Because at my terminal it seems like city and linehaul can take whatever they want and sometimes that causes problems lol. I'm on linehaul btw and none of the guys on linehaul side have assigned trucks they take whatever truck they like and stick with it at our terminal. I don't know about city but I think it's the same on that side also at our terminal.
@t1truckin7 ай бұрын
Yup. City P&D have assigned trucks, and some also share an assigned truck with a night time linehaul driver. Day linehaul has their own assigned tractors.

LTL is cake work compared to manufacturing. I love it!

33.19 is starting in so cal but with no overtime that’s crazy that means you have to do 60 hrs to get a decent paycheck. Then the terminal is far af in the desert San Bernardino/riverside area that’s 1-2 hours drive depending on time of day with traffic. That wouldn’t be bad for a local job but it’ll be the same as driving otr. Work 12 hrs drive home for 2 hours exercise eat do chores or errands next thing you know you only have 7 hrs of sleep daily/nightly and have to work another 12 ? No thanks.

Couldn't do the 50-60hrs a week with no over time. On top of the equipment policy (you have to buy their pallet jacks) it's not worth it.

Well a few bad apples ruined that for everyone by not taking care of the equipment and destroying the pallet jacks. R+L lets you pay for them weekly by taking it out of your check. It good because everyone take care of them they all look brand new because they own them.
