What an awesome story. Just goes to show, one day you think you're a loser, the next you have hundreds of millions of dollars in your bank account. Just like Stardew, if you water the seeds you plant, they'll always grow.

My husband and I bought Stardew many years ago and it was a great game. After a few years we both got a little bored and started a different one. But I found out that he had continued working on the game and was adding the big update, I was really happy to find out he was still working to expand and improve it. I started playing again right before the release and am addicted again lol! Hoping he keeps up with Stardew as he can. Will definitely be checking out his new game

Holy shit that is a terrible and biased take on Sarkesian. She was fully a grifter. She didn't have "good points" and was only even commenting in the space to generate controversy.

I love how a one in a million scenario of someone breaking out big time is always somehow proof that "with enough hard work, you can accomplish anything..." Yeah mf, if you are the one in a million that make it!! 🤣

People can be so so horrible to a person for making a game they enjoyed at first then get pizzed off to the creator because of their own problems with it. So immoral

Eric is lucky his game made such a big hit, or all of those years would've been for nothing; not all indie devs are so lucky with their first big title. Glad he struck gold though, it's an inspiring story to not give up on one's dream, to see it to completion.

I always want to move on to new things. If I got 12 million from Stardew Valley I would immediately hire a team and make something completely different.
@jackmiddleton20802 күн бұрын
You kind of glossed over the mobile game he made but that sounds like something that would have disturbed those close to him. All that work and time and now you're stopping to make something from scratch?

I played Stardew before and never knew that this game was a one-man made, what a legend, props to Amber for supporting him so much. I don't play Stardew anymore but I still love all the moments I spent in the game, it was one of the few and likely rare of a gem game that makes me really appriciated all the effort that was put in to make such a memorable genre of a game.

With enough persistence, but never forget the support he received from his SO, friends, and family. He deserved the support and I'm glad it paid off for him and his new community. Kudos to those who stuck by his side and propped him up when he was his own biggest doubter.

Microsoft charging 40k for a patch sounds fake as hell, and if it has any shred of credibility, is likely a huge exaggeration.

I can relate so much to this... Not anywhere close to the success Eric has found, but have provided for my family with the games I've developed. Finding a balance in working on them and being with the family can really be tough, especially in the weeks/months before a release. Great story!
