If a man shits on you and then goes on to shit on other people and tell them to go kill themselves. Him coming back and apologizing to you doesn't make him a good or changed person. Especially if he continues to be an asshole to other people. He sounds like a genuinely terrible person, but no one deserves doxxing aside from genuine criminals.

I'm delighted to see a fresh perspective on Phil. I also follow him since Fez, and every once in awhile check if he's back, because like you, i'm a fan, and yes, sure, he have social difficulties and spoke faster than his mind, but he is an artistic genius, and i will remember him for that!

Holy shit, I had tears in my eyes. I feel so happy for him and honestly, MASSIVE respect to his girlfriend for having the patience, love and dedication to support him.

I remember when I first watched this video, I sat here thinking about how every guy needs an Amber. Now I think I've got one, and this video happened to pop up again because we've been playing Stardew Valley together.

Damn…i had tears in my eyes when you spoke about how he expected maybe 20k sales tops and got 500k in the first two weeks and almost perfect review scores. All that hard work…all those sacrifices he and his partner made…finally paid off. I am so glad I bought the game on all devices I am playing on, just so I can support him.

I mean kinda, i play it every once in a blue moon and it feels meh especially alone. Yeah its a cute game definitely and the dungeon and fishing is fun but thats just about it sometimes

You kinda dropped the ball with the final conclusion there. The takeaway of this story is not "if you work really hard and don't lose focus, you also can achieve this kind of success". It's "this kind of hard work and persistence is only possible if you have a strong support network". It doesn't diminish Eric's achievement of course. But he did have all these stepping stones - from supportive parents, to being able to afford higher education, to Amber doing so much work, which gave him time to finish his project, to the publisher coming in at the right moment. The expectation that if you just work hard enough, you'll be the Next Eric WITHOUT all this is incredibly naive. For every Stardew Valley there are dozens of cool passion projects made by talented and hardworking people who never finished their games. Because they had to work 60h weeks, or maybe just because they didn't have anyone who believed in them and encouraged them.
