It should also be pointed out Uri Gellar didn't even invent the spoon bending tricks. Psychokinetic silverware is a type of magic that has a much older and richer history, invented by show offy brothers, sisters, uncles, and fathers while waiting for mom to finish dinner hundreds of years ago, if not older than that. There's a known fact about magic that it's not the inventor who gets the credit for a trick, but the one who becomes the most famous performing it. Still, it's weird to try to get a copyright on spoon bending. If anything I'd say he had a stronger case against Alakazam whose Japanese name was an inversion of his own, but even then, parody law you'd think would be there. But I guess Japan doesn't have that.

Its actually quite simple, in Japan honor is everything, so their defamation laws for example are so strict that even if you are telling the truth, if telling the truth hurts someones honor you lose the case.

Oh shit, I think I have one of those Dark Kadabra cards. It’s one of the dark versions of one of those 3. Might have to dig out my cards and check, even if it isn’t worth anything, just cause it’s a neat story. Abra and its evolutions were a few of my favorite pokemon when I was a kid, especially Alakazam. And I have multiple Alakazam cards, both holo and not. Interesting story that I wasn’t aware of though.
