What’s the slowest speed you’ve gotten on wifi with winegard? My RV was equipped with it (Jayco Swift), and i think it’s defective. I was expecting at least half of the speed of direct wifi (Like yours, around 60% loss of speed), but i’ve tested it at home and went from 20mbps to 0.02😂 eventually it went to 2mbps. Tried at a mcdonald’s parking lot (The advertised use case, boosting the weak signal), and still, it was very slow. 50mbps down to 5mbps.

I've had two of these units so far - one of them failed after 3 uses and one after 2 uses. If they want to send me another one, I'll try it before I give up on them, but there's no way I would buy one today. They believe these were mainboard failures. I'm guessing they are either poor quality or they aren't leakproof and water is getting to the mainboard.

Thank you for this video. I made a couple videos on the AKASO and it’s so true, there is absolutely no stabilization at all 😂 I like it though because it feel *vintage* and the price was great lol. But I think I will have to mount it onto my helmet and see if that makes any difference… any other suggestions to improve the stability when mounted onto handlebars? Thank you!

Doug, great review. I want a dashcam for a very limited purpose, i.e. my periodic 2 day drives to Florida and back. My car is NOT dashcam friendly (1 power port tucked at the bottom of the center console). I don't care about a dashcam for everyday driving and not interested in parking mode, etc. I just want the 15 minutes around any accident/incident. This cam seems to fit my needs with its looping function. I would probably power it from an external battery, stowed somewhere safe. Or just swap out the internals at my "pee breaks." My question is: for my purposes I dont want to use the water housing (overheating issues). Can i mount this (naked) on a dash mount and if so, can you recommend a good but inexpensive dashboard mount?
