Does it take 15 pulls to start the Engine?
@joeraptor12 жыл бұрын
When I first bought it, it would start on 1-2 pulls. Then, last fall, as the temperature dropped, it would take 20-30 pulls to get it to start. I just serviced it at the dealer. Turns out that it was a defective spark plug from Kohler. The dealer put in a Champion spark plug and now it works great.

@@joeraptor1 thank you since I bought this model and I should of went with the Kawasaki engine instead
@joeraptor12 жыл бұрын
@@tylergutt5073 I have a Kawasaki powered model from Toro as well with the FJ180v. The Kawasaki seems more powerful and louder but the Kohler seems to have a more consistent torque curve. They are both good but I prefer the Kawasaki version as well.

That's a nice mower 👍🏼
@joeraptor13 жыл бұрын
Not really. I've been buying Toro commercial 21" mowers for 25 years and this one is the most disappointing. 1. Kohler engine lacks power and struggles to start in 10 degree celsius or 50 degree farenheit or below temperatures when it's cold. 2. Mower is too short leading to unbalanced machine. When the bag fills up, the mower tilts up. 3. Deck and handle material is cheaper and thinner than before. The model with the Kawasaki or Honda engines are the best ones to get.
@OldLenn3 жыл бұрын

How do you like this compared to the Honda and Kawasaki
@joeraptor13 жыл бұрын
I haven't had the mower for long enough to really give the Kohler engine an accurate review but after 5 hours of run time, my initial impressions are: 1. Starts easier than the Kawasaki FJ180 engine and about the same as the Honda GXV160 engine. 2. Seems to run smoother and hold a more consistent torque pattern than the Kawasaki and Honda. 3. This Kohler is 173 cc while the Kawsaki FJ180 is 179 cc and the Honda is 163 cc. The Kohler's power seems to be a little less than the Kawasaki but more than the Honda. However, I don't think the rpms are up where they should be. When I get a chance, I'll have to check the rpms with a tachometer. 4. Fuel consumption seems about the same as the Kawi and Honda 5. Overall, it seems to be a nice motor but I still think Toro should have put the Kohler CV200 (200 cc) on the mower instead of the CV173 that is on it. Hopes this helps.

Is the exmark better then the toro 21 commercial?
@joeraptor14 жыл бұрын
The Exmark is better than the Toro only for bagging. For mulching and overall performance, the Toro is better. It bags well too but because it has the mid-lift blade and a deck that's designed more for mulching, it sometimes doesn't have the lift to pull everything off a lawn, especially leaves but overall, it's not bad. The Exmark has a high lift blade and a bubble deck. That leads to better lift from the blades and it gives the mower the ability to vacuum extremely well.
@PabloPerez-bf4cp4 жыл бұрын
joeraptor1 which one do you mainly use?
@joeraptor14 жыл бұрын
@@PabloPerez-bf4cp I don't have the Exmark anymore. I sold it and bought a Toro commercial 21". That's all I use now. I have an older Toro 22256 as a backup machine. Like I said before, the Toro is the better all around machine. It is a very good mulcher and a pretty good bagger. The Exmark is great for bagging but not so good for mulching. It all depends on what you will use the machine for most of the time. Thank You.

I'm guessing the 450 tip would be great for scouring the yard or blowing wet leaves.
@joeraptor15 жыл бұрын
Yes the 450 tip does make the BR700's airflow more focused and thus leads it to scour surfaces effectively. Unfortunately, the 450 tip, from my experiences, turned the 700 into a slightly more powerful version of the BR600. Air flow was reduced by air speed increased. That's why I sold the 700 and bought a BR800. That's the best of both worlds and an excellent machine.

What’s the difference between the exmark and the toro 21?
@joeraptor15 жыл бұрын
The exmark 21 has more of a bubble shaped deck. It's great for bagging but not so good for mulching. The toro has a flatter deck that is great for mulching and pretty good for bagging. The exmark also has the variable single speed transmission across all models while the toro has the same single speed transmission only its base model (22290). The next models up in the toro commercial line up have the 3 speed gear transmission. The toro also seems to be more sturdily built but the exmark is no slouch either. Having used both, I find the exmark to feel lighter too. The final difference is the height adjustment. The exmark has different height adjusters than the toro. They're both excellent machines but if you do more mulching than bagging, I'd go with the toro and if you can afford, I'd buy both and use the exmark during bagging season and the toro the rest of the year.
@b20em15 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to respond. I just have all exmark equipment and I came across that toro and it really moves and cuts awesome. And since it looks like the exmark I was curious to know and wanted to buy another one as a back up. Toro is heavy though compared to my other 21” commercial snappers that we use. But thanks again buddy happy 4th

Yes I have the toro 22297 and the toro 22256 with the honda. I use the 2297 the most and really like it. I usually just rely on the 22256 as a back up. I don't like the Honda HRC either. The motor is too weak and the handle bar is too long. Wish someone would make something around 26-28 inches that actually works well in all conditions. Have been tempted to try the Exmark/Toro 30" but the reviews are so mixed that I am hesitant to try.

@joeraptor18 жыл бұрын
Yes I have tried the personal pace. I did not like it much as I found it was always get stuck when you pulled the mower back. The 22198 I believe is the predecessor to the 2014 and newer toro commercial 21". I have used those. They were good machines but didn't bag very well, especially on wet grass. The model that you see in my video is the current mower. It's the best commercial 21" mower I've used. It mulches great and bags great as well. It's a bit heavy but you get used to it. To start it, you siimply press the primer bulb on the side about three times, stick the transmission in neutral and pull back on the starter rope. You can also start it with the machine in gear, you just have to slowly raise the lever. Yes it is self propelled too.
