I bought this blower three weeks ago and it absolutely kicks ass. I can't wait for the powdered snow to fly so I don't have to shovel the driveway! :-) For anyone who might be concerned about the weight, I have to say this is the most comfortable 28 lbs I've ever carried around on my shoulders. I've gone through about 5 tanks of gas so far, and most of that includes blowing for 2-3 hours at a time. I had NO issues of fatigue from weight, nor did I experience sore shoulders.

@JTinGr1 Congratulations on your blower. I'm glad you like it. I like mine but I still don't find it that much more powerful than my echo pb770.

@CanadianToolGuy21 I've been out to Alpine and Kooys. Kooys is one massive store. I remember when they had the small shack over on Keele/Wilson. Out here in Mississauga, I usually go to WE Enterprises (Dixie/Dundas), Hitch City, Lukes, Ashots, and Chainsaw Clinic (Weston/401).

@CanadianToolGuy21 On paper, it's supposed to be. Its specs say it produces 908 cfm at the pipe. But in reality, I'm not so sure. I've compared this unit to an Echo PB770 and they're pretty close in power. The Redmax is a bit more powerful but not insanely so. The Echo is a bit lighter and more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Fuel consumption is about the same for both.

@CanadianToolGuy21 No problem. Do you plan on buying one? If you're going to Hitch City in Mississauga, it's on Dixie Road, just north of Eglinton. They also have a store in Scarborough.

@CanadianToolGuy21 I bought mine at Hitch City in Mississauga. They had to order it for me. It came in a couple of days. Cost was $679 + HST. You can also get them at Dickson Commercial Equipment but they're in Burlington. If you go to Hitch City, ask for a fellow named Deepak. He handles all the landscape stuff and is a real good guy.

I'm not that far from the States. My dealer checked with Redmax. They said there was not any recall as far as they are aware. I checked Redmax's website but there's no contact email.

Wait till it stops working. There seems to be a big problem with them, over heating and sizing up.. Many people are returning them

@walkermowers1 Should I go to the dealer and ask them or contact Redmax first and see what they say?

Walkermowers, I took the blower to my dealer. They said they had no idea nor no information regarding the recall and wouldn't do anything. So, I guess I'm gonna have to leave it as it is.

Ran out of characters...anyway, the balance of weight and shoulder strap design are near perfect. I worked lawn care for four seasons back in the early 2000s and often experienced sore shoulders/back and broken blood vessels on my shoulders from prolonged backpack blower use (older Redmax units). I haven't experienced any of that yet with the 8500.
