I'm not sure Bandai hates G-Saviour as much as you imply. It made an appearance in Build Fighters in 2013 and the model kit got a reissue in 2017.

Ahh G-Saviour. I always remember it sorta as a fever dream during the entire run time. Admittedly during a rewatch it wasn't really what I'd call horrible, just plain and forgettable. It was so far divorced from UC that it might as well have been in a standalone universe. Atleast it was a short ride and didn't waste my time with its mediocrity unlike with Gundam Wing and Gundam Seed (I regret those 100 episodes of Seed and Seed Destiny). Also with the mobile suit designs, all of them are designed by Kunio Okawara, which was also the main designer of every series thus far including Gundam Wing, X, and Seed. Okawara is rather iterative when it comes to designing suits, which was why the game had mechs resembling ZAFT and SRA units since those two shows came before and after this one. The mechs in the movie were also designed by Okawara, they just weren't translated well to CG. Check out the lineart.

Based on what i saw in this video: i really like the mobile suit designs. Late UC is such a hard thing to come across in the US, and even though its not a really good story based on what i can tell, its certainly still fun! Thanks for sharing!

21:50 From what I remember, the amount of HP you have really doesn't affect the fight. Raven's attacks do something like 75-100% per hit. One of the few times he landed a hit that didn't just kill me, I remember getting to the boss fight with 85%-ish health. I managed to sidestep one of his ramming charges and still getting grazed by it, leaving me with about 10% health. You get like 1-2 hits with this guy tops.

imo the voice acting reminds me of old PSX armored core voice acting, which I've come to love over time. They sound like Japanese VA's that recorded their lines in English, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case (as that's what PSX AC did). This was also probably* before having a team dedicated to localizing dialogue became a thing.

Saying no one is trying to dig it up is a bit rough there is a huge chunk of the community that would love nothing more than to see it brought back and redone right. Generally to consensus is that it was done dirty, the film is arguable trash but also pretty on par for films like this for the time, the novels are good the game was fun and the Mecha design is actually great with some of the ideas penned for this game and show going on to be common place in new Gundam media going forward. As the years move on it's gone from shunned to the underdog and Bandai should give it another shot!

Movie was just too ahead of it's time. The deliberate artificial food shortage isn't so outrageous as a political point now that "lower the prices of eggs" is a thing.

I felt the same way with that final boss. @22:00 I've seen the ending of the game on youtube a few time so I forget if I really did beat it. The final form is too fast but I think I was able to trap it in a corner a few time for some hits. Good video.

Regarding the Australian level you can find old Zeon OYW Mobiles Suits in the map like Z'Goks or Zakus scattered about in the map.

I would not be mad if Sunrise embraced G-Saviour and eventually did an animated remake OVA. The G-Saviour Gundam would definitely need a serious power upgrade, though. That far along in the UC timeline and the thing is as powerful as the Gundams from the OYW. What little it has is not nearly exciting enough for a Gundam by today's standards.

Imagine a game like this in HD with even more mobile suits and the ability to play either side of a mission. That's literally all Bandai has to do to make a successful Gundam game that isn't a hack'n'slash grindfest (like the Breaker games) or a grid-based tactical RPG. They had a gem like this and just failed to release it in the west. I can only conclude Bandai's gaming division is helmed by morons.

They don't talk about G-Saviour yet they made Gundam build fighters real. The live action school drama Gundam show.

Gundam games are so frustrating because the pieces of a truly great one are there but scattered across ten different games that have thier own individual flaws.

The plot for this game is ripped straight from Armored Core seriously the final boss at the end there is basically Nineball and it’s pilot Hustler One. Who also ended up being an unmanned mech being controlled by an out of control AI which happens a lot in that series.

Back in 2012, that was the first time I watched "G-Saviour" on KZbin. Personally, I liked it even if it's either canon, semi-canonical or non-canonical to the Late Universal Century timeline. Plus I kind of like the Late U.C. Gundam stories even more than the One Year War timeline, I mean Zeon's pretty much overused even if they're still popular.

I got the game when it came out, and really liked it. I'm a mech fan, and this was one of the better offerings out at the time. The voice acting was and still is pretty impressive, considering it's the full dub cast. I know the controls are wonky, but I'll argue they are wonky and not straight up bad. Why? Because like you said, at some point, you get good at the controls. It takes a while, but there will be a point where you get used to the wonkness and handle the gundam expertly. To me, bad controls NEVER feel good, they're just trash. The controls DEFINITELY could have been better, I won't argue that, but the point of mastery is fairly enjoyable. At least it adds some game time to an otherwise short game, lol

D: 21:22 - A guide I still reference today when I make a Progress-Pilot :salute: 25:20 - You reached the score required to reach the final-final secret stage which leads into Crossbone Gundam. Before that was just F91.

They really should make a gundam RPG. One with great story. Breaker series were great but there's tons of missing stuff that I want. For one, the story is more of an advertisement of gunpla than an actual gundam story.

I actually still have my copy of this game. Haven't open the case in over 15 years and I don't have a PS2 to play it on though.

No PS2 gundam game ever reach this quality for some reason after this one. Oddly, even though it should encompassed all major UC story it never reached Victory for some reason. The RPG aspect even got a manga story which makes it canon.
