Bro, that was almost my exact experience on launch day. I stopped at 1 gamestop and called 4 others for a switch copy, and none of them, not a single one, had any copies for either system, so I had to get to the bottom of this and the answer was "nobody Pre-ordered so we didn't get any." I lost my shit. On launch day, not a single gamestop in GOD DAMN HOUSTON TEXAS HAS ANY COPIES IN STORE TO SELL! I actually Pre-ordered a switch copy for my little cousins birthday, so you can imagine my face when he called me in the middle of work saying, "They don't have my copy." (Good thing is the manager was a G and gave him a used copy of let's go Pikachu as an apology). The game would be in by the end of Labor Day. For myself, I wasn't having it. Best buy emailed promoting it with Pre-order bonus sold together the only best buys who had this were located 20-30 miles away from my job WITH TRAFFIC JAMS. So I said screw it and gone to the one closest to my home, which was still a 20-mile return trip. Then I placed it for pickup, I got the game, and that's all folks.

Yea I had a very lucky experience. Went to a local Gameshop and turns out they only received 1 copy of the game. So that’s how I got my copy.

Edit: I finished your video, and yeah, the first lady wasn’t very nice. I actually had a different experience: the guy who sold me the game was very excited at meeting another Gundam fan (me) and was sad that they only gave their GameStop one copy. He talked about how rare it is to find Gundam fans casually. Wish more people had better moods

I'm the same way K9. I need my physical copy!!! But in my case, I called all my local GameStops a day prior. Only one store in my area had a copy. A SINGLE copy in my area. Yeah, I went to that GameStop ASAP. Great video, I enjoyed your story.

I had a pretty similar experience too,first GameStop I went the employee told me that he had a box of copies in the back but since he was the only there he didn't have time to stock them,so he couldn't sell me a copy. Then he said I could pre-order it online (which you couldn't do anyway) so I can pick it up tomorrow. After that I called 4 others GameStop and they didn't have a copy either; I called again the next day,including the first Gamestop I went to and again,no copies. I ended up getting one from Amazon because I got a free week of prime and over night shipping for free.

It's 2024 and we still have to jump through hoops to buy a physical copy of a Gundam game. Who would've thought lol. Glad you got a copy in the end. Amazon was going to be my last resort.

This is one of the reason why I ordered games on Amazon WITH ONLY a gift card to my account. I may have to wait a little longer, but it's convenient the most.

Dude! Stay in st.louis! I called all my GameStops yesterday! Only one damn store has 2 physical copies left for the switch! But my library has and I’m not kidding 5 PHYSICAL COPIES!!! But I have to wait because I’m on a list 😒🙄 So I’m saving up to get it from that one area. *fingers crossed* I’m terrified that this is going to be a rare game to find

Man I preordered my physical copy on Amazon. GameStop is a dud. I went to GameStop to pick up a second copy and they gave me that garbage routine. I told them bye with a smile and continued to proceed to my house and figured I would just download the second copy. If they want to keep losing business, they’re doing fine. It kinda feels like a blockbuster now that I think about it

Honestly, most of the Gamestops near me look more like mini Toys R Us's (And are struggling just as bad), so this doesn't surprise me.

its not just in US its also in Europe.Lots of stores are reducing the stocks of physical games that are considered "low interest games'' and only bring those that are sure to have big sales like god of war or gta.The fact that also many have went towards digital deluxe editions plays an important role to what and how many copies is it good for budget to have in stock to avoid the instance of getting left with unsold games for a long time

I bought mine digitally for PC, but I had a very similar situation with another niche game that I had to have physically last year. It's a long story where I went to multiple stores and one of them ended up holding the game and my money hostage because their online ordering system wouldn't release the game to me, even though they had it in their hands right in front of me. It was so frustrating! All that driving and talking on the phone and all this "we have the game but it's preordered, so you can't have it. you should have preordered it!" nonsense almost makes us have to rely entirely on digital copies, which is not great!

It's almost like some of these stores don't realize that them not giving you the physical copy actually hurts their business because it makes more potential customers turn to digital sales. I understand publishers have to think about profits but the stores, what's their excuse? lol

A yes, ngl I would like a physical copy but I highly doubt I’ll find one plus I’m getting a ps5 soon so getting a ps4 copy would be bad thing bc I would be loosing on better settings(maybe)

I been flowing you for some time now since there's not much coverage for GBO2. Especially for well edited content. I'm glad you've been branching out. However this maybe isn't it. Venting out frustrations of the service industry in a story time format just leaves a sour impression on all people involved in the narrative.
