Battery technology does not exist to run heavy duty device the same as gas engines. If you had a corded saw, you can run off of home or generator power, then yes, you could build a lighter chainsaw

I try pretty hard to like this saw and it always disappoints me. Broke it out the other day, been running my gas saws a lot but wanted to give this a second look. I couldn't do it. Also the bar is so flimsy I didn't notice before but it's so cheaply made it's kinda embarrassing on dewalt's part.

@Bearbait01 you could look on youtube. People did modify it by switching the bar and the chain for a regular oregon one. Also i think you need to leave the rakers super high. If you take too much of them then it's worst on the batteries

Look I like your video a lot and I am glad that you made it. BUT #1 that top handle stalled out a lot, #2 That bigger saw bulls more amps so OF COURSE it is going to instantly die on 1 bar when a smaller motor pulling LESS amps does not stall #3 I don't disagree with what you are saying I am just pointing things out, I am sure if i used those saws in real life I would understand better what you mean and why you are upset.
@Bearbait01Ай бұрын
The top handle stalled out? You must mean the 20v small rear handle. It's completely unacceptable for the big saw to overheat a fully charged battery after like 8 cuts through hemlock with a fresh chain.

Since ive been down this road in a similar situation with a bad wheel cyl, think it might be important to add that the reason the pedal feels fine when bleeding with vehicle off but pedal goes to the floor when running is because the brake booster is simply strong enough to compress that trapped air. With vehicle off, the pressure of your foot alone without power booster assistance will not compress that trapped air .

I run my 16" saw like a horse and it never really has problems overheating batts. i have about 4 to 5 9AH batts that i swap out as they die and cycle on a charger. I bought the saw to test it and i have been happy so far with it. for as much cutting as i am doing i should probably being into gas saw territory but this 16" dewalt just keeps chugging. had it for almost 2 years and use it almost every weekend to clean up my trails and drop trees for opening up my hunting food plot.

You have to use the same chain the dewalt has a skip chisel husky has full chisel which cuts faster
@Bearbait012 ай бұрын
There is no such thing as a skip chisel chain. This is a stock vs stock comparison.
@loucifer42052 ай бұрын
@Bearbait01 Yes there is you have skip chisel and full chisel ,skip chisel chains are used on battery operated saws because there's less drag so you use less power and they are used on 24 in or longer chainsaws but a full chisel will cut faster but takes more power
@Bearbait012 ай бұрын
@loucifer4205 I think you're confusing semi-chisel and full chisel while also confusing full skip and semi skip. Both chains are full comp, the Dewalt is "Micro chisel" which is Oregon Speed Cut Nano and the Husqvarna is a Full comp semi chisel.
@Bearbait012 ай бұрын
@loucifer4205 I've also never seen a semi skip or full skip chain used on a battery saw. Every one that I have has came full comp. Semi skip chains are not very popular. Most people use full skip if they aren't going to use full comp. Both of these being top handle saws. No one uses a skip chain with a top handle saw as that is dangerous for climbing. You need all the cut speed you can get.
@loucifer42052 ай бұрын
@Bearbait01 Most battery operated chainsaws use skip because it conserves battery life they also use narrower chains
