It’s very similar to training a horse, actually 😊 But it’s really important to give them time to think. I would recommend looking up Ty Evans. He’s a clinician and he’s great with mules 😊

Super good question! They are, in general, less prone to get laminitis from overgrazing, but I'm sure there are plenty of exceptions depending on the individual animal :) Mules are also generally able to do well on a lower quality diet than horses.

My wife had the same thought when I showed her the footage… I just couldn’t believe they could carry those big ones up there, but they were definitely in their nests. I feel like the burnt bone was definitely cooked by a human in the back of the cave though 😊

Good question! It’s a crupper, and it helps keep the saddle from sliding forward when going downhill. Mule’s don’t have pronounced withers like horses, so the crupper helps 😊
