INSANITY: (FILM TRAILER) A BACKCOUNTRY BIGHORN SHEEP HUNT

We are so excited to finally share our most memorable hunt of this year.
Jason drew his once in a lifetime Sheep tag here in our home state. He was in complete disbelief when he received the email saying he was successful. The next few months were spent planning logistics, scouting, e-scouting, and practicing with his rifle.
It was a surreal feeling when we finally started the hike into SHEEP CAMP!
Jasons dad wanted to be a part of this hunt, he worked hard and got into great shape and was able to spend his 67th birthday over a dozen miles into the backcountry with us. Which was no small feat.
This hunt is what it is all about for us! Rugged mountains, family, grit, determination, wild places, amazing memories, tough conditions and some of the best wild game meat we have ever eaten!
The pack out was brutal but we were able to haul out well over 100lbs of sheep meat, plus the horns, and lifesize cape (which Alyssa will be mounting over the winter!) Nothing of this spectacular animal went to waste.
Some folks don't understand how you can love an animal even if you're a hunter... often that's hard to explain. We liked bighorns before, but after spending this last year thinking about sheep, scouting sheep, dreaming about sheep, glassing for sheep, learning about sheep, and hunting sheep, it has given us a whole new level of appreciation and admiration for the bighorn sheep. They live in some brutal country and we will forever hold a special place in our hearts for this amazing animal, the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep.

We weren't hunters we planned for stream fishing rainbow trout are or were abundant I fished in a steam in front of Camp David in 1968 and the guards in front of the complex laughed and enjoyed watching me catch all the trout I wanted it was pretty cool thanks kray

Wow that was cool I do want to know how much those packs weighed I hiked in places similar in the Appalachians many years ago just curious and what's that meat taste like I know that was a short video but that looked like a week's worth of provisions thanks kray

Thanks Kray! You nailed it! That was 8 days worth of gear 😁 Alyssa had 65 on the way in and 90 on the way out and I had 75 and 100… I gotta be careful or she’ll pack more than me! 😬😂 The meat is super good! We only eat it on special occasions. It might taste extra good because we worked so hard for it lol

@@MTN_BUILT that's a lot of weight but I understand I'll have to admit ours weighed 50 to 60 lbs on the way in but about half that on the out lol we carried guns and probably carried more ammo but we weren't hunting we did fish alot though and ate dinner at a place about 10 miles in but it was at the top of a mountain that's just how we rolled on that hike thanks kray

If you go there for hunting I understand these days it's a little sketchy because areas for hunting and those just hikinf are close together sometimes only a thousand feet apart so do your research thanks kray
