Man, today’s dirt track racing looks sorta weak compared to this. Makes me remember when dirt track was the Best Show in racing. It was legit tight racing. Thanks for the reminder!

The rumor with the Springer was his nerves really ate him up reason for the stomach issues. The mind can really be horrible to a person Chris Carr, he was another H-D racer. Excellent rider and champion.

Ive watched flat track racing over the years from King Kenny to Shyna Texter Bauman. This generation to me is the smoothest bunch of racers of all time.

Grew up in Du Quoin in the 70s and 80s and got to go to every flat track race there. Springfield and Du Quoin were these guys favorite mile tracks back then.

I lived by gate 3 and went to every flat track and Usac race since the 70s. But when Parker, Moorhead, and Springsteen were racing it was the best. I miss those days

Back when they all ran XRs that was "thee" event to be at. A 4 or 6 inch square of plywood with a 2x4 nailed to one edge made for perfect seats on the hills. Saw Parker get off an XR at the jump when the 600s were really coming on, I wanna say chasing Carr on a 600. He laid there long enough for the restart. What a place thanks for this video

My hero. First time spectating at Ascot at 17, mind blown. Go into pits after the race and see Gary's custom-painted Trackmaster Triumph sparkling under the lights and dreamed of someday racing at Ascot. Couple years later, as a first year pro (Novice) on a Trackmaster Suzuki twin, won a few heat races and earned enough point to move to Junior. Built a Champion 750 Yamaha. Just a middle-of-the-pack guy at Ascot, but won regularly on the Corona half-mile. Rolled into the pits at Corona after one win and heard the announcer say that I'd broken Gary Scott's lap record. Wasn't sure whether to believe it or not, but I was riding well. Eddie Lawson and Wayne Rainey were also regulars at Corona at the time, fortunately for me, though, they were still riding 125s. So many great memories.

Later in the 70's I lived on Umbarger Rd. right behind the track along the back straight. In the early 70's my family would stop at the SPur on Monterey Rd and have breakfast then go to the races. I never race the mile but I raced the 1/2 mile many time both as an amateur and a pro. Man I loved those days. I didn't realize how much until I knew that I would never be able to be there again. Those days are gone. No more track, no more racing, no more fun in life.
