Yeah Annie. Its always a bit of a downer packing up. Im just back from a hike to loch coire thoraidh in Glen Orchy. Had a great weekend,the hike had everything imaginable in it. I can honestly say that just as i was arriving back in the town where i live,i have never felt so down.🤷 Then back to work and the same old grind. Where i had just been seemed like a distant memory. Thats the attraction which you put across so well. Thanks for sharing.

It’s so important to do the things that feed our happiness! That sounds like a great weekend 🙂 I’m hoping to head back out this weekend, mountain weather isn’t looking so amazing, so I’m trying to decide whether I care about the weather or not 😆

@@annieoutdoors I've started to get a bit more stoic regarding the weather. In Scotland you have no choice.🤷 And it's always good to see a place in another light and appreciate the seasons for what they are and why they are. Go on,get out there!

Part of a farm, I have still to battle my way through the undergrowth to the other part of it where I think the house might be! I tried to research who lived here but couldn’t find out much sadly. Many small holdings were abandoned around the same time, perhaps in relation to ‘clearances’ where they were removed to make way for larger estates (I’m not totally sure about this yet though).

Isaiah55:6&7,"Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts.Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon." Repent, receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior today.This is God's invitation for redemption, Jesus loves you so much and he is the only WAY to eternity.God bless you

Wonderful video! It's my first time seeing anything from someone doing this. I only recently did some amateur exploring of my own and now the algorithm just randomly gave me your video which is super cool! Literally just a few weeks ago I was looking at some old maps close to where I live and saw a farm that use to be there but disappeared about 50+ years ago, I spent a lot of time trying to google up more information but hit a wall so I thought I'd go have a look in person It was a LOT more overgrown than your farm, and demolished to a much greater degree. The level of overgrowth made it very difficult to explore, but I did manage to eventually get to it. I found some evidence that some teenagers had been round it maybe 30+ years ago, but I think I was the first person there since. It's a cool feeling. I took some video footage and even made this KZbin account to upload the video clips to, though I never actually got round to doing it. A week later I was exploring another area about 500m from the farm, and ended up falling down a bank and landing face first in brambles, it left me a bit of a mess but it hasn't put me off! There's so much on old maps that's just disappeared, and now I want to explore it all! It's fun! Sorry for the ramble, loved your video! Glad I found it.
@annieoutdoors
@annieoutdoors 16 күн бұрын
😀 That’s brilliant, landing in brambles is all part of the adventure!! I think I’m supposed to be a bushcraft & wild camping channel 😆 (I’m sure I’m destroying the algorithm with my exploring videos!! lol)…but I mostly just make videos about the stuff I’m going out to do anyway. And just now I have quite an addiction to seeking out these old homesteads. It’s amazing when you find things left by the people who lived there … I guess there’s not so many things in our world that are left untouched these days 🤷‍♀️

Think for a moment how those stones were gathered to build the walls. Someone laid a bed of mortar and lifted the stones in place. So much hand work and so much time taken.

Aw Annie! I was enthralled with that. Felt like i was in there myself. I would happily wander about that for hours, (and then try and look entirely sane if anyone walked past) 😂😂 Absolutely loved that. Shame about the Lucozade bottle ruining the moment, entirely out of place. Totally in awe of the workmanship to those dwellings. Ive seen modern day houses being built in half an hour with chip board and breeze blocks and then go on the market for two hundred grand!! Just as you said,"whats value?" Loved all of that. Thanks.

The 1690s were a precarious time to live in…It is worth mentioning that witches were very real to people then and although accusations and sentencing were far more about control and power than they were about ‘safety’, people really did fear witches.

Most homes out in the sticks would have had a midden, once something had served it’s purpose and couldn’t be repaired it would be thrown in the rubbish heap, these make interesting finds. I worked on a cricket pavilion once and had to replace the floor, in the earth below was a massive midden with lots of old glass bottles including a tiny Marmite bottle. Under the circumstances I decided to take a few and then boarded up the floor, some of the bottles have appeared in my photographic work in still life images. As a family when I was young in the 60’s and early seventies we visited Wales quite a bit and I loved it when we discovered some of the mining villages (mainly slate mines I think) that had been abandoned and trying to imagine life back then, so much simpler but for all working class people back then life must have been extremely hard.

I would love to ‘dig up’ some things that have been left behind in order to better understand the story of those that lived there. It’s conflicting though for sure. Leave it as it is to be consumed back into nature or rediscover some memory of those that came before. I know I don’t have the right answer… There is something deeply intriguing and seductive about little pieces of someone’s history …. Kind of funny as well because what I find spellbinding now, they probably didn’t have any emotional attachment to!! Could be the equivalent of someone in the future finding one of my coffee mugs and treasuring it, even though I got it free with a tank of petrol 😅 Thank you for taking the time to comment ☺️
