I have not! This little hyster only has a 1700lb lift @ 24in. If and when I need to pull one of my super duty cabs I'll put a forklift on either side of it, I have another small old Yale as well. I have pulled an OBS crewcab with 2 engine hoists, that was pretty sketch.

I have a 7.3 superduty and did this mod but my fuel pressure didn’t change at all. I have a driven diesel regulated fuel return and I can’t get above 45psi at the pump and under the hood at the regulator. Brand new warranty’d pump too. Any advice ?
@frostydoesitАй бұрын
You could try shimming the spring so that it can't open the relief/return as far. I guess that's what I would try. Make sure you are also getting an unrestricted flow from the tank to the pump. I put a bottom sump in my tank with 1/2" line as the supply to my fass. Why do you have a driven diesel regulated return setup when your fass is self regulated and returns to the tank? Your setup doesn't sound ideal for what you are trying to accomplish.

I have exact motor, what's blow by mean ? Was head overheated, surface looks like it was very hot.
@frostydoesit2 ай бұрын
Blow by is combustion pressure/gasses that make is by the rings. Basically causes the cylinder/piston to have low compression and those gases pressurize the crankcase. You can check blowby by taking off your oil fill cap and see how much pressure is coming out of that location, or your crankcase vent. Some blowby is normal especially on diesel engines, but anything excessive is a bad sign of overall engine health.

@Dirtygerty3 ай бұрын
This, my friends, is what is known as survivor bias. Don’t get me wrong, you did a great job and it may be fine. However, You take a big risk doing this. The actual right way to do this is to get heat treated steel to tightly adhere to the outside of the frame, then rivet it together (industrial rivets obviously).

Gotta question what did you have to do to get the 4x4 to work when you set the 2wd cab on it. I’m doing the same and wanna make sure the 4wd works never done a cab swap on these old rangers.
@frostydoesit3 ай бұрын
I had to swap the shifter cover panel from the 4x4 cab over to the 2x4 cab. I also swapped the entire wiring harness from the 4x4 cab over to the 4x2 cab since they were different year trucks and had completely different harnesses. If you were using the same year cab I don't expect you'd need to do this.

@@frostydoesit yes same year models same everything just ones 4x4 standard with manuel 4x4 and the cab I’m wanting to put on is 2wd auto I just dont wanna do it and not have 4x4 never messed with swapping a 2wd on a 4x4. 4x4 was gave to me it caught fire and burnt all interior and under hood stuff and harness but everything else is nice has lift and I was gonna throw a 2wd cab on it just wanna make sure it can easily be done and 4x4 still work

@AustinVictory the 4x4 harness plugs in along the framerail. The automatic harness will be different than the manual trans harness. It's not hard at all but you will have some work ahead of you
@AustinVictory3 ай бұрын
@@frostydoesit that’s my problem the 4x4 cab has no harness it got fried in the fire that’s why I was gonna cab swap it and use the 2wd cause it is complete. Harness and all just wanted to make sure if I swapped it over if it would work didn’t know if the 2wd and 4x4 was a complete different harness. I figured I’d have to do the shifter cover and the clutch pedal but wasn’t sure on the wiring

Just a personal opinion but I think stick should be used on structural stuff like this due to the science behind it… Not everyone is good enough with stick though to do it.
@frostydoesit3 ай бұрын
Mig has a lot of advantages in this situation, the frame is only 1/8" thick on this frame. For a thicker frame like on a semi or medium duty truck I'd still probably use mig spray. If it was over 3/8" then I'd probably use stick. Everyone does things a little differently. I do agree with you for big thick material then stick is hard to beat. Thanks for watching!!

Is this possible to do for my rwd avalanche conversion to 4x4
@frostydoesit3 ай бұрын
I am no Chevy expert but I believe they made quite a few 4x4 Avalanches. You could just buy a parts truck that was 4x4 and swap all the parts over. The pickup trucks probably had the same 4x4 parts as well. Like i said before though I am not a chevy guy so I could be wrong. It would be a big project though, you'd have to swap transmissions, transfer case, driveshafts, crossmembers, shocks, axle shafts and a slew of other items. If it were me I'd sell the 2wd avalanche and but a 4wd one. A lot less headaches!!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but structural engineers have proven without a doubt that a 90° cut, if welded CORRECTLY, is by far quicker, easier and the industry standard for strength. I didn't believe it, either, but after watching various tests, accompanied by actual physics, I am now convinced. Physics don't lie any more than Shakira's hips. 😅 Save yourself a crapload of time and effort by doing a bit of research and throw the fishplates in the scrap iron pile. BTW- very nice job. Looks great, stronger'n hell and it shows your work ethic. Keep up the good work and God bless you and your family.

You're not the bearer of bad news.. 90° angled cuts is the one n only way to go.
@28704joe2 ай бұрын
What I gleaned from my research was that frames are engineered for rigidity ( by a factor of 6 to 1 given any stress they see) ) so that the body sees little bending of the frame its sitting on. With a 90 degree cut and proper welding the weld will never see any loading that will cause it to fail. The Z cuts are a picked up from woodworking people. Also a fish plate looks like you know what you're doing.
