for the footage you shot with the C80, did you have some sort of lens filter on the glass? e.g mist filter? It looks grerat!

just to understand for the tests, you exposed Key Side to +1 stop over middle gray and then over exposed or did you expose Key Side to Middle Gray?

HDRX and Extended Highlights is 100% the same, just different combined. The flaw on EH is, you can't control it specifically.

It seems like the same as the z90 except bigger, heavier & more expensive. And a 1" sensor is not small. No one is shooting footage for the big screen. Anything larger than 1" is overkill to the max. HD at 60p will always look more impressive than 4K at 24p.

perhaps this is a dumb question, as I'm new to cameras and such. But I'm curious, does this system support tap to focus through the camera's touchscreen or an external monitor (not necessarily the DJI one)?

It’s really time for Sony to have some sort of RAW format internally on the next gen Cinema Line cameras, namely the upcoming FX6 and FX3 mk2. The current all-intra codecs are fine but they really start to lag behind when compared with the internal RAW codecs of the (fierce) competition. Sony obviously have the knowledge and the financial resources to make it happen if they really want to. Having great AF and low light performance isn’t enough anymore, most competitors have internal RAW nowadays which is a major advantage for professional work. It’s time to step up Sony.

I rented this lens to film a documentary about a variety show, as part as a fully built-out compact rig (R6 II, Atomos Ninja V, V-Mount, and some audio equipment). The circumstances: Difficult lighting, moving subjects, and a lot of change in scenery. (From show, to backstage, to interview) This lens, although really heavy without a shoulder rig, was a DREAM to use in practice. From its focal range, almost perfect par focal nature, to the stepless aperture when spotlights came in the mix. Just fantastic, and still very much Canon in ease of use. Yes, if you were to buy it, it's quite expensive compared to some other RF lenses. And no, it doesn't perform like cinema glass. But I don't think it's meant to. If you want zero breathing, minimal to no aberration, you're getting closer and closer to at least 5 digits on that price tag. For YEARS I've wanted a 'film-focused' lens of this vocal length, akin to PictorZoom and Angenieux, and although this lens may not perform 'as well', it's incredible nevertheless.

Awesome review. Thanks! I’d love to see a comparison between the Canon C400 and the Ursa Mini 12K OPLF - trying to decide between them, they both have great pros, but different target users with some crossover.

50:42 is this in fact a leveler and extender or just an extender? i.e. is there the piece that attaches to the tripod head to keep the eyepiece level during tilts?

Amazing how folks think background blur equates to cinematic. No it does not. Most important is the story. It's all about the story.

There are some features on this camera that really punch above the weight class. I would love to see BM get themselves into more high end DPs hands. I think a lot of the hate on the company comes from some of their early models being finicky or having issues, but they're obviously really trying to establish the camera side of thing which makes a lot of sense due to how prevalent they are in the post side of things. I feel like they need a B cam version with this type of sensor array. Would love to see a PYXIS pro of sorts to be a companion- even if its only a 6 or 8k version with the RGBW sensor and maybe some internal NDs.
