Only watched the first round. You don't follow the rules. First you used the rope without putting it away after usage. Left guy didn't took 2 hearts and if you end your day early you also need to take a heart for every red card. In this way I also can win XD

spoiler-free mini-review: I did not love it. It was a 3-bullet game. One of the puzzles was inexcusable. But overall it was structured strangely -- there is a story here but then its really all about finding puzzly answers to some questions that rarely have any narrative tie-in. Strange experience. The fact that it was also quite expensive ($55) did not help. Hard for me to recommend this.

Hey, I picked this game up after playing a "Unsolved Case Files" that was my first murder mystry game. My 7 year old daughter has been interested in what I am doing with cards all over the table, so now she is trying to help me solve the cases. We do our best, and then after we are done, we watch you solve them. Adrian passed away when we did this one. It was fun to see your thought process and your crowd sourcing with the chat! We will be working on our next one soon, then watching you solve it! Love your channel so far!

This game was pretty bad. I think the key breaking and then finding threads online about the key breaking and the weird meta thing that led to the key breaking caps this game at a 5 at most if it were still otherwise good, but I'd probably give it a 3. Very few puzzles except the literal one and fails to deliver on what it promises. Go get Box One instead. Great game.

@@COOPFORTWO How did you get the top of the box to stay put? I insert the key into in and it collapses, but I can't get it to stay collapsed it just keeps wanting to unfold. Feeling so dumb XD But when you just reviewed it looked like yours was locked in place?
@COOPFORTWO
@COOPFORTWO 2 күн бұрын
@@mattschaak It definitely doesn't lock and stay put. i just put the cover on quickly and then use a piece of blue tape to tape the lid to the bottom so it doesn't come off. Originally there is a "seal" sticker that holds the top on, but its meant to unfold and lock open as soon as you take the top off. When I'm opening it on this review i believe i was deliberately holding it so it didn't unfold.

One thing I forgot to mention in this video is that during my playthrough, almost 25% of my time was spent putting together a small but difficult jigsaw puzzle. To me, that's not what I want to be spending so much time doing when I play an escape room gaming.
@dorpth
@dorpth 3 күн бұрын
It drives me crazy when EXIT puts out one of those big jigsaw boxes. Feels like they're wasting perfectly good EXIT puzzles on boxes that waste my time with jigsaw puzzles, triple the cost of the game, and lead to more waste when you throw it out. I think the intent is they think families will enjoy it with the people who aren't normally into escape rooms will enjoy the jigsaw. But in that case it's just going to be the people who don't enjoy jigsaws spending half the time waiting for them to be put together, then the people who don't like escape rooms spending half the time on the riddles.

When Apollo 11 was about to land they had an alert and they had time constraints. Land or ot land? They passed the point of no return. They were committed to land. So with time constraints they had to solve the system alert. Timed operations part is realistic. The whole mission has limited time to do what you need to do and everything is timed. Planets do not stop because you need to go to the bathroom. Rescheduling in space trips means you need to recalculate trajectories, engine burning time, attitude (the direction of the nose of the ship) and time windows for tasks.

Apollo NASSP videos illustrate how abstract is panel control usage. Unlike modern displays, these control panels were very abstract. In the board game they call it experiments, in real life it is control panel adjusting parameters and turning switches on and off. Calling it ship control panel adjustments instead of experiments, would have been boring. Real world NASA checklists are awkward and are terrible as a rulebook. Their checklists and cue cards are functional, but understanding them as a newcomer is really awkward and convoluted. NASA people were not great makers of rulebooks.

Thematically, operating a spacecraft is an abstract use of control panels and do abstract things. Aside of final approach to landing on the moon, everything is abstract. Let me tell you how to works in real life, so you can see how abstract this is. * You need to raise the apoapsis which is the highest point of a ballistic trajectory, to reach an orbital altitude. apoapsis is an imaginary point in space. * As you approach apoapsis, you need to make a prograde burn (basically fire in the direction you are moving) until periapsis (the lowest point of the orbit), which initially is under the surface of the Earth, until it reaches orbital altitude. Then orbit is achieved. * Then wait until Earth is between you and the point where you will intercapt the moon. As you get close to that point, you start TLI burn (trans lunar injection) to bring the apoapsis to intersect moon's orbit * As you are enroute, you make small course corrections. * As you approach the moon, you need to make a burn to establish an orbit inclination that should pass over the landing zone. * Upon reaching periapsis (relative to the moon) make a retrograde burn (hit the brakes with your engine) to lower the apoapsis relative to the moon to circularize orbit. Congratulations you reached the orbit of the moon. I could continue, but the point is that all these abstract points are figures in control panels, so the work to reach the moon is really abstract. And unlike movies, there is no fancy extreme aerobatics with piloting maneuvers. It is mostly checking figures on panels and pure abstract work and few tasks are manual.

@@COOPFORTWO Orbiter Space Flight Simulator for PC may be what you are looking for. It simulates space flight with real physics, and I do not mean newtonian physics, but keplerian physics about orbits. It is open source so you will be able to download freely. The simulator has a default ship called Delta Glider with an unrealistic amount of fuel so you have enough to roam the solar system. More realistic simulations would be very tight on fuel and do not allow many mistakes. That sim makes you handle things manually unlike real missions where many things are automated and you basically update flight parameters. NASSP is a fan made addon about Apollo. There is a simplified Apollo addon too called AMSO. I made some tutorials for Orbiter already since 2006 so I am fully aware about the foundations of space navigation and orbital mechanics. Each ship is different in the way its panels are used just like airplanes are different, but the general principles are the same.
@josepablolunasanchez1283
@josepablolunasanchez1283 4 күн бұрын
@@COOPFORTWO My knowledge about Apollo from an engineering perspective is somewhat basic. From a casual expectator may seem expert, so it depends on the point of view. I started to decrypt very cryptical convoluted orbital mechanics tutorials in 2005 until I managed to understand how orbital maneuvers work. And I mean maneuvers like plane alignment, orbit synchronization, trans planetary injection, orbital injection, etc. Frome there you start to investigate the maneuvers for each transportation system. I know far more about space shuttle than Apollo. However I know the general maneuvers that Apollo missions did. TLI for example seems like jargon, but it is just the engine burn to make ship orbit to intersect moon orbit. Concepts like reentry come from the way Apollo capsules enter atmosphere. The capsule comes fast, so it bounces against atmosphere like a rock in a pond and when it finally sinks is after that first bounce and this is why it is called reentry. Space shuttle only has entry interface, which means it does not bounce, so there is no reentry, just entry. This stage is called EI or Entry Interface. After that, once the shuttle is close to the runway, it is called TAEM which is Terminal Area Energy Management which is basically passing from the entry phase to be aligned with runway, by maneuvering around an imaginary cylinder that leaves them perfectly aligned with the runway. There are 4 cylinders to pick. Apollo is different. CM does the deorbit burn and then it is detached so CM burns while the capsule survives. Unlike shuttle, after reentry there is no maneuvering, just opening parachute once it is safe to do so and fall to the water. Since most of the planet is water, it is somehow easier to land on water. To learn all this was difficult at the beginning because aerospace docs are convoluted and not user friendly. Remember that in 1960s and 1970s they did not know what making a simple well designed rulebook was. So studying was difficult and docs were often cryptic, full of acronyms in jargon. So if you find the game convoluted, congratulations, you have had your first step into aerospace docs. NASA may have done wonders, but user friendly rulebooks is not one of their achievements. Indeed NASA has great opportunities for educational projects, but I imagine that since it is government, these ideas could get lost in bureaucracy. One game I had in mind was the recycling system of a habitat. I already have the inorganic chemistry figured out, but I lack data on organic chemistry and greenhouse to complete such a game. Space colonies and spacecraft for long voyages are habitats. You get the idea. As I see it, Apollo is the most realistic tabletop experience that you could get from every angle about what it meant to be an Apollo astronaut in the 1960s, from the cryptic rulebook to the convoluted game mechanics that simulate how hard it was to operate an Apollo.

Sadly I was too exhausted and nodded off, so I couldn't participate in the discussion after reading the letter. But I think it is a very good first letter. I'm intrigued. Interesting premise and great idea with these 'allies' we can send everywhere. Well done, Matt - again. A few spoilery thought: - I think we need to focus on the people who are trying to LOSE these card games, the winners seem oblivious (and not very good players anyway) - find out what were the 'punishments' of losing before and go after that (like the phone thing) - also: I don't think it's a good idea to send the 15 year old girl to the stock exchange in 1929, she's not the one who could blend in there, also it could be potentially dangerous (all the men, money, power there...)

Nothing seemed to gel in this game. The frenetic video clips didn't match the pace of the game, the AI chat was off, and there really was no story or anything at stake here. I dissappointment. Hopefully Box Three will be a comback! Matt. E.

I didn't expect to watch all 6+ hours of this video, but just as with Mission 1, I got hooked right away and was glued to my screen over several days comparing and contrasting your choices and results with mine. This was easy to do and lots of fun because I had my Mission Log entries written down and my logbook next to me so I could flip through and follow along as your adventure was unfolding. My end results in achieving the Objectives for Mission 2 were identical to yours, although we got there through 2 very different paths. This also made watching the video more enjoyable for me because I had bypassed the final Objective you chose ---- and hence everything was new and especially exciting for me. The only difference in outcomes is that I had less negative Tracking Points than your group which gave me a better result at the finale stage ----- but one agent was KIA earlier in Mission 2 (for the only personnel loss I have suffered thus far). I will now begin my Mission 3 and am extremely thrilled with the gameplay and the gritty realism as well as the ever-present danger that gives a sense of foreboding at all times. Early on in this video, I was intrigued with your lengthy thought process as to what to do with the 6 or 7 year old German boy who'd spotted your agents. I liked watching your moral dilemma of how you agonized as to what you should do with such little information but with potentially catastrophic results. There was also a wide range of opinions by your small group of viewers. Eventually you made the same choice as I did in this instance, and I believe it led to a better outcome (although I never did check what would happen if my choice had been different). Another major decision in the story arc involved the tailor's demand. Here we differed on our choices, but as you know, there is often no obvious right or wrong answer. We need to sift through every little bit of info presented and then go with our gut feeling. This is the realism and the fog of war.
