It seems that exposing more for the darks and shadows would help with underexposer on some of the shots.

it's 2024 and the x-pro2 is 8 years old still i went and changed the xt5 to it. why? well i got tired of the xt5 camera and when i got the xpro2 i fell in love with photography all over again. The xt5 felt like a "toy" compared to the xpro2

How do you get these photos digitally? May be a straight forward answer but I’ve been given some old lenses my dad used to use on the om10 and wouldn’t mind getting a cheap ish om10
@MattJNeale3 ай бұрын
When you get your film developed the shop can send the scans to you digitally. If you develop yourself you can scan the negatives and make digital files yourself mate

Just found this gem and really appreciate the nostalgic aspect. Got my OM 10 way back in the 1900’s when I got introduced to photography in 10th grade. Amazing photos!!!!! What were your aperture and shutter speed?

picture quality and character wise, which did you like better (i guess if you used both on digital). the ttartisan or the old canon 50mm

The average meteing system can be fooled if pointing the lens to a primarily light or dark areas. As your GT does not have exposure compensation you could still overcome this issue by altering the ASA dial to compensate a stop here and there. I set the camera to F11 and use hyperfocal distance accordingly.

I have an Om10 with a 35 to 70 F4 Zuiko lens. A very useful and versatile film camera. I use my Nikon D40x digital camera with a 18 70 afs DX lens more because film and processing is so expensive.

What aperture do you use on portra 800? I have a doubt with my sekonic light meter, it’s always indicating 22f in ISO800, and I think that aperture in a sunny day, will probably trash the photo 😅 I’m newbie 😼📸

Lovely documentary. I worked for Brian as a teenager, clearing manure from the barn behind the forge. Always a pleasure to see him work. A fond memory is the 5 foot by 15 foot (ish) "wall of horseshoes" that was present outside the forge in the late 90s. I've got some of Brian's metalwork in the attic that he did for my Dad.

Although it was cloudy, most of your photos are under exposure. Try harder.

It was the style I chose to shoot on the day, historically my images have always been slightly underexposed as a stylistic choice. It’s not to everyone’s tastes, especially yours by the seems of it. Anyway, thanks for watching

Hey Matt! Wondering if you read your comments still, but I read below that you said your camera doesn’t beep anymore, has that affected any of your photos at all? Just soured one that works beautifully, but just doesn’t beep at all… Shot a roll of film with it, and waiting on the scans! Crossing my fingers!
@MattJNeale Жыл бұрын
I do occasionally read them. Regarding the beeps, I think it may have been down to a depleted battery. In any case it didn’t affect any of the photos. I hope you’re happy with your scans!

Contra the video introduction, this Minox isn't a spy camera and never will be. It is not made with the technical craft and precision of the real Minox spy cameras. In fact, it isn't really made by Minox, but by a German company historically making fairly cheap consumer cameras named Balda. The user sets the lens aperture, but the camera automatically sets the shutter speed, so the user has no practical control over the exposure. There were about a dozen model variations made over the years, and the early ones had some quality control problems, so stick to the late models if you dive in. Overall, it's a pretty good, self-contained pocket camera selling fairly cheaply, making you have to wonder why folks waste their money on relatively crappy alternatives like the whole line of Olympus XA cameras.

Hi Matt. I'm loving the videos you make. You have that instinct of looking for what you think it might be interesting... even if its something similar you saw before. But you're not afraid to experiment. I've recently found my interest on film again and I just bought an Olympus M10 (before I found your channel). I'm literally waiting for it to arrive. Doing your own development is also something I found to sparkle the need to try everything and see what works. I've only used the HP5, but will give the Delta a chance as I see you can get that strong contrast also. Cheers and thanks for sharing! (a portuguese in Ireland)

Ha! Meenox my arse. It's Min, as in Mini. Ir does rely on those replacement batteries - it can die quite quickly and unexpectedly. But when it works the results can be superb from that crackin' little lens.
