picture quality and character wise, which did you like better (i guess if you used both on digital). the ttartisan or the old canon 50mm

It is indeed a great lens, I use it too on my X-Pro2 and quite frankly, for the price, it delivers ! AS you said one should avoid to shoot wide open, but other than that focusing is easy with the help of the x-pro2 focus peaking, I love the fluidity of the focusing ring ! And it looks great on the X-Pro2.

I totally agree, might have to look at what other lenses they do for Fuji X!

@@MattJNeale I recently purchased (60€ !!) their 25mm f2 for Fuji, manual too, same spirit, light, pancake-like, I mostly use it at f5.6, and focusing is as smooth as the 50mm.

Nice. Their lenses are great value for money. They actually sent me a 17mm as well as the 50, I'll make another video about that one in future. I haven't used it yet, so I can't say how it is!

(1:45) Just get an UV or any protective filter. Those are cheap and it's better to have scratched filter than scratched front element of a lens. Just saying...

Good advice, thanks

so sorry about your camera man! I'd be devastated. just got myself the 50mm, excited to get it in the mail soon. I've been using the 35mm f1.4 for a month or so and am absolutely in love with that tiny piece of glass.

It’s my own fault, I deserve no sympathy mate haha. Thanks for the comment, I’m interested to know what made you go for the 50? I’ll have to try the 35 one day.

@@MattJNeale I’ve always thought of myself as a wide-angle guy (16mm is my preferred focal length mostly), but recently, and after going to Europe in summer, I was influenced by photographers like Saul Leiter and Taras Bychko to take a different approach to photography, to focus on the details, reflections and such. I’ve been using my Helios lens for a while, but I’d like to have something lighter to play with and experiment getting complex images through the compressed viewpoint of a 50mm and step out of my comfort zone.
