Did you have to remove the center console plastic section to gain access to the part your video shows. I see the plastic vent on the center console going forward to the gas petal , looks that that may be in the way, or is it? I have no problem taking off the section under the steering column ( obd port and hood release) I can do that, but can you even see the actuator with just the pieces removed from under the steering column as in 9:38 of your video? Thanks it is a very good video and I have a new part to replace the old damaged one.

You really should have a disclaimer somewhere in that video that you are showing people how to violate federal law by installing headlights that were not approved and or manufactured for those housings in particular and as a result may end up getting them fined and possibly making them revert the lights back etc. what you are showing people to do is illegal in every state
@jaythemechanic4950
@jaythemechanic4950 24 күн бұрын
I understand and appreciate your concern/comment. The disclaimer is on the packaging of the product that you may end up buying. I’m not the manufacturer nor the seller of the product. If it was illegal as you say in all 50 states; then why are all car manufacturers allowed to sell the vehicle with similar or even brighter headlights from the factory? Most vehicles are now equipped with factory LED lights both for the front and rear of the vehicle.
@rayanthony6865
@rayanthony6865 19 күн бұрын
You are correct about new cars having LEDs all over them in fact the point of my comment is that changing an incandescent bulb with any outward firing LED in any direction off the car is illegal in all 50 states. That means tail lights headlights back up lights brake lights unless you replace the entire housing with one designed for LEDs as the manufacturers have included on cars that have them

Hi Jay. I am hoping you read this comment soon. My question is related to the brake job once the maintenance mode is set in place using the scan too (which I do own one that that can do this). Once you begin the brake job are you still removing the electronic parking brake from the caliper? I assume yes. So the only thing the maitenance mode does is remove the need to manually turn the plate on the back on the back of the caliper with a torx socket, correct?
@jaythemechanic4950
@jaythemechanic4950 Ай бұрын
No. Once it is set into maintenance mode, you will do the brake job as usual. Once you are done put it back into normal mode. You do not remove the electronic parking brake from the caliper.
@chrisryan8863
@chrisryan8863 Ай бұрын
@@jaythemechanic4950 Hi Jay. Just to clarify, you are saying the caliper can be fully removed WITHOUT removing the parking brake assembly from the back of the caliper (it will stay attached when I remove the caliper). Correct? Thank you!
@chrisryan8863
@chrisryan8863 Ай бұрын
And if that is correct, how do I retract the caliper with the parking brake assembly still attached?
@jaythemechanic4950
@jaythemechanic4950 Ай бұрын
Ok. So when you use the scanner to put the ebrake into maintenance mode, the mechanism that engages when the ebrake is engaged will move away from the piston. Once it is in maintenance mode just do the brakes like you would otherwise. Just don’t forget to put it back into normal mode, otherwise your ebrake won’t work.
@chrisryan8863
@chrisryan8863 Ай бұрын
@@jaythemechanic4950 so does putting it in mainteance mode also suppress the caliber to prepare for new pads (and if not, how do I suppress the caliber with the parking brake connected to the back of the caliper)? Sorry to be a pain with multiple questions, I am just not fully clear by your explanation of how to suppress the caliper and I think maybe other viewers may have the same question. Thanks so much Jay!!

In my opinion it is best not to push the fluid back into the system but rather use the bleeder to evacuate the fluid and then bleed the system. That way you do not have old overheated fluid in the system.

Took my car to the mechanic with no issues other than that I needed my brakes changed. He calls me up telling me the lights on the dash are on and he can’t release the rear left brake. I can’t remember the exact part he told me he needed from Honda to fix it, but now im annoyed, I’m going to be more out of pocket. I drive for a living and need my car. What was suppose to be only a couple of hours of down time is now going to be who knows how long. Just venting.

@@jaythemechanic4950 no, he said it wasn’t his fault. I said, well I’ve never had this issue the last time I had my brakes changed, granted the last time I changed them was at 54k miles, I’m at 123k now. He tells me, “well your car is older now things happen,” which I understand. But, as someone who knows jackshit about cars I feel like my only option is it to just believe him. I’ve only given him half the amount of the total cost for the brake change ($200) but I’m going to see if he can drop the other half. But, either way I’m going to be charged for him to fix the piece that he supposedly needs to fix. Should’ve just taken it to the dealer, lol, but how was I suppose to know this was going to happen.
