put that filter in a very tight space so no one can get there...so you have no choice then take your vehicle to a dealership to pay some bucks for them to replace it!!! What a design...thanks for your efforts and making this video

Agree with you on this. Not sure if they had to design it that way or not, (dealerships are getting a lot of money for what should be a DYI for owners) but it is a PITA to get in. Also, good luck in replacing the spark plugs on your own on a 2015-2020 Murano.

honestly nissan designers hate their techs. it’s not just the filters, they make EVERY little thing extremely complicated. even an oil change makes no sense. newer models have 20-30 clips for the under shield, just to get to the oil pan to drain it. and then the filter is still behind the passenger front tire, directly above the frame so you have no way to avoid getting oil all over it.

This shit took me damn near 30 minutes just to get the filter out. Not only that, to make matters worst/better, I had to take out the glove compartment just to get access to the filter. After cutting my finger, I somehow managed to get the filter out. Surprisingly, it was super easy getting the filter back in and the joke of it all, I was able to put the clip back on the first try. Still thanks for the video. It did help me out a ton.

Got mine out, vacuumed the box, put it back in and took about 20 minutes. Had most of the problem getting the cover latched in at the end. Not bad for a 72 yo who’s not very mechanically inclined.

Good video, I have a 2018 murano , and when I tryed to change the filter myself it was virtually impossible for me to complete !, I watched tons of videos yours was about the best , it would have been awesome to see you actually insert the filter from start to finish but like you said there is limited space and is very difficult to do this replacement filter I'm in my 60s and can not contort my body like a circus freak 😅 anymore ! Lol , I don't know what the designers were thinking !?, that's it ! , they weren't thinking and didn't care about the mechanics or owners that would have to change this part down the road when it was time for replacement !, Nissan wants over two hundred dollars for this job and it's really a shame and sad customers like me have to pay that much for a simple filter replacement! I miss the 70s era cars so much cause you could have done any repair yourself and at a reasonable price 😢 oh man the good old days !

Don't have to buy filters at the dealer, that's the first and worst mistake you can make. I've worked on cars for the first 2/3rds of my life...the "it's made in the US" and better quality than aftermarket is not true, as they all meet the specs as they have to. It's also a little more easy if you remove the weathertech mats, the 7 screws that hold the glove box and the triangular kick panel to access the filter area. Sounds like this is his first time doing this make and model and it shows.

I do appreciate the video. and I did use the after market filter, which i will not do next time. But I missed something putting the new filter in. How do I get it out. It's Lost, loose inside the compartment. I cannot grab it like the original one.

Getting 300k out of ANY vehicle, even a Toyota or Honda, is asking a lot. The biggest concerns with Nissans is the CVT transmission.

Great video. I have 2017 murano. This filter housing is very stupid design worst than any other cars. When remove the old filter like the way on video I bet still have most of dirt remain inside of filter housing, and when push the new filter into the slot nobody can see the filter is bend or fully insert.

it's not the parts that cost much, it's the labor which i think in some cases are ridiculous. They will take there time and that's when it adds up. On a hour job. Seen it done.

Most shops will give you a flat rate. Even if it takes them hours, they will stick to the quote they gave you. On a side note, you cannot deviate from the original quote by more than 5% without customer consent.

I have a 2017, this car is a POS. So many stupid designs. A plastic oil pan cover that has to be removed to do an oil change. With clips that wear out after 50k miles. It’s not possible to turn on the accessories by themselves. Nope, have to power up everything including ignition, then power off, to power up accessories. Causing the computer to have to boot up twice. Running lights that cannot be turned off. POS do not buy.
