Hi! We have a cottage on this lake! Fun to see this amazing body of water here. From my understanding, at some point the walleye were illegally introduced into the lake with no record of it. Supposedly in the 80s or 90s, so when the MNR did their study, they found a few and put it on the website. In 5 years, and many many hours of trying across 3 or 4 of us, no walleye have been caught out of little silver lake. Amazing bass fishing and the panfish are some of the best tasting around. You showed the lake respect, and the residents of the lake will be proud to have this video up and showing off the lake. Thank you, and tight lines!

Also, looking at the pike, I'm 99 percent sure I've caught that fish, in that bay before! very cool
@ericsoutdooradventures48693 ай бұрын
@@dog0409 thanks for the feedback. I actually grew up on that lake as my aunt and uncle had a cottage there for about 20 years and I’ve been keeping an eye on rentals. I did catch a few walleye back in the day and I ran into a guy that week said that they do catch the odd one still, there were no pike when i used to go there as a kid so I was kind of surprised when I fished there a couple years ago that I had caught some Pike. If you’re ever looking for a fishing buddy there, hit me up, I only live an hour away lol

I've fished there for cats a few times no luck. I'm using a bottom rig slide sinker weight with either worms or gulp catfish nuggets. What am I doing wrong?
@ericsoutdooradventures48696 ай бұрын
@@Disturbed420420 I just use a 1oz bell sinker with 2 circle hooks tied with loop knots 6” and 12” above the sinker. Make sure your line is taught so you can see the bites. This was a rare time that I caught a bunch before sundown. Typically the bite starts as it gets dark. Good spot year-round

Thanks, Dave. I’m actually heading back to Crotch next week for my annual 4 day solo. Enjoyed your video of Long Schooner, it is definitely one of my favourite lakes. The paddle into Round Schooner is one of the nicest non-portage paddles I’ve done. Nice trail there too. Camping at Fortune lake at the end of July, which is right beside Long Schooner.

That’s awesome, I recently booked this lake because I know the smallmouth bite would be good here; bringing the little bro and I know he’ll prefer smallies over trolling for brookies which is not as exciting lol. What lures do you recommend?
@ericsoutdooradventures48696 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for checking out the video. I actually came down with COVID the day we left for this trip but had enough energy for some shore fishing. Was back to 100% by the time we left. I’m heading back to the same spot next week for a 4 day solo trip. Lures that will produce on Crotch are any topwater (I like any type of popper) in the evenings, jerk baits and crank baits. Fish the shorelines. You can catch fish anywhere on this lake and smallies are what I usually catch the most of.

@ericsoutdooradventures4869 Жыл бұрын
To be honest, I don’t remember what the site number was. I camp on this lake quite a bit and sometimes it’s last minute so I end up on random sites. But I’ll be honest with you there’s not a bad site to camp on on the lake. this particular trip was very windy so I didn’t want to take the canoe out onto the lake so that’s why I fished mainly from shore, but I’ve had success shore fishing on every spot I’ve had on Crotch Lake.

Thanks Eric, really enjoyed this video!. The right place, at the right time, with the right presentation is pretty cool when it all comes together. Always nice to put a few hawgs into the boat. Re. the thunderstorms ... hope you had a good book with you lol. You also made a comment about not having to bring milk ... I take powdered milk with me on most of my back country trips ... as long as you're not drinking it straight-up, but just using it as a coffee whitener, or for cooking, it's a great substitute. And you can use as much as you want to get a creamier texture to any of your cooking. Cheers.
