Ok. So am I right in thinking the torque sensor distorts slightly with the pressure from the peddles and would change the inner wires length to send the input signal

Обычно при этом перегорает диод в системе управления батареей внутри аккумулятора. Мы не можем исправить это, но специалист по электронике должен быть в состоянии устранить эту проблему.

Yes, but the best way we have found for this is to fill between the teeth of one gear and let the grease transfer to the opposing gear.

Yes, Brose are continually making small changes and updates to their motors and they now have our lip seal added. Stronger, more durable planetary gears and more durable belt pulleys.

Hi! I have a problem with my electricmotor itself, the bearings need to be replaced, but i cant find any videos or information about it. Is this even doable? And can anyone give me the bearing number or a link where to buy them? Thanks so much in advance!

Yes, it is possible to remove the electric motor and replace the lower bearing that supports the armature in the motor case. This is normally the one to fail too. If the upper armature bearing (under the brass gear) has failed, it is not possible to change this one.

@@Ebikemotorcentre merci j'ai fait toutes les opérations de restauration moi même sans grande difficulté avec soin et sans presse, avec un étaux et des gabarits il ne me manque que le joint x de +- 25mm j'ai remplacé nouveaux roulements courroie axe joint interne 24x30x4mm et graisse spécial résistante à l'eau.

Hi, Greasing bearings is not really a thing on the motor. Technically, they are sealed for life, but basically, if the grease gets contaminated with water or dirt, it is the beginning of the end anyway, re-greasing will not help.

@@aston108 Definitely worth an ask. And there are some motors like Bosch Gen 4's for example, where this is possible and important to do outer maintenance, but not Yamaha yet.

How important it's to use the right grease for these motors. I'm using blue grease. Before I use to used white grease synthetic but it doesn't last too much

The right grease is generally critical. The wrong greases can affect the plastic gears, can cause the clutch bearings to slip, damage seals and O-rings etc. For example, using an aluminium based grease with a lithium based grease, will turn the lithium grease back to oil, and then it will just run off of the parts it should be protecting. The genuine Bosch grease is readily available and does a fantastic job.

16:20 - maybe it would be safer to heat that aluminium case little bit from the outer side by a heatgun to be sure its not much heat (dont go with torch Jesus😂) but its enough to help. Even little bit of heat helps if its aluminium

There was no big upgrade when the motor changed from 2.1 to 2.2. Brose are continually upgrading and updating components within their motors and there came a time when the 2.1 had received so many little updates that it was changed to the 2.2 and the 2.2 is still evolving to one day become the 2.3

Thanks for the informative video. I have a Focus thron 2 with Boschs Performance Line Cx 800 km and makes quiet the same noise as it is on your bosch performance line cx. Dealer said its okay, it is normal, but am not sure. Shall I do anything with it? What is your opinion?

Basically, if your motor is making any noise that it was not making when it was new, you may want to get it looked at sooner rather than later. Usually, once you can physically hear an issue, every pedal turn is just costing more money.

Hello Thanks for the very good video - One problem I haven't answered yet, nowhere: - The part at 4:06 , which is in the freewheel, has hyper-sensitive surfaces, everywhere it is warned not to touch them and in the assembly instructions for the service kit it also says " do not clean"... But what happens if I have wiped it with a clean, lint-free cloth? Possibly soaked with Isoprop to get it nice and clean. The instructions with the "do not clean" only came later with the service kit... Background: Greasing the gears myself and wiping the freewheels dry have only ever brought brief improvements. Now I have the service kit here, still unused, because I'm not sure whether I can the rocket-scientific-hyper-sensitive-surface has not been ruined somehow... If anyone has any experience or ideas about how dangerous this really is beyond "just try it out", I would be very pleased to receive answers. Thanks and best regards

Don't worry, you will be fine. The bit to worry about is what grease to use, because that large roller clutch bearing relies on friction to stop it slipping. This friction is gained through the grease, so using high slip, high pressure greases here will not go well. To be honest, if you use it sparingly, you can add a very thin coat of Bosch Drive Unit grease to the surface of the freewheel gear and then slide it into the clutch bearing. If you are fitting a new Bosch service kit, or a new bearing from me, these are both pre-greased and will work perfectly.

I wish i had repair shop like yours in my area. This is very bad design, looks like they dont care about waterproofing things at all. I ride to work whole year, even in heavy rain and snow and that motor would die in one month probably...

Don't worry, these motors are fine in the rain and snow, it's normally deep water crossings, power washers etc. that cause problems and currently, this is the same for 99% of eBike motors on the market. Brose are now adding extra seals and weather protection, so this issue should start to become a thing of the past.

What kind of sealant are you using at 24:01 on the screw heads?

We used standard RTV silicone gasket sealant at first, but now we use copper washers as they are more resilient.

Great question! Sadly, this is unanswerable. There are so many variables e.g. terrane, rider style, rider weight, predominant weather, transport method, bike cleaning habits etc... All we can say is that we have been doing this for 4 years and have only seen sprag bearing failures. Yes, even the upgraded ones cannot take the force of a full pedal strike or big crash.

That’s all very fair, so as far as I understand most failures are due to bearings and not the motor it self making the repair relatively cheap compared to buying new motor..? Also does your 12 month warranty cover damage done by pedal strikes?

@@smellgashelp Although a pedal strike is completely outside of our control, we will normally replace a sprag bearing that has been damaged, or re-align a crankshaft that has been punched out of its housing under warranty. However, if the rider carries on with a mis-aligned crank, ignoring the scrapping sound until the belt fails or the pedal strike destroys the planetary gears, we would normally look to fix this at cost. When you become a customer of ours, we try our best to look after you.

I would recommend it as the Yamaha grease can disappear from the main motor gear bushes, causing a lot of wear to the crankshaft.
