Great and really useful review, I bought this version Sora 700c at a great sale price in the UK a few months ago - I live in a very hilly part of the UK, so as a very cheap instant way of lowering gear inches I fitted a Shimano HG200 11 -36 cassette which the Sora rear derailleur handles no problem, I also fitted 50mm Schwable G-one Ultrabite tyres which I enjoy riding off road/on rail trails. I have got a SunRace 11 - 40, 9 speed cassette to try as forums indicate this works and others I have read recommend a RoadLink so that the rear derailleur can handle it. Anyway I like the robustness of the 9 speed Sora groupset and I think it is a loss that 9 speed CUES will not necessarily replace when the drop bar version comes out and I think it will be hydraulic only, and whilst I value the hydraulic brakes on my mountain bikes I don't need them for my road/gravel bike - so when the Sora wears out I might replace it with Microshift Sword either 10 speed or 9 speed. Thanks again for the video, ride safe.

Do you think when you install a bottle holder just like you did, it drags the bike a lot the bike with the wind? Or it is an insignificant difference. I travel on the asphalt with many cars passing by, so I am a bit worried about the wind resistance.
@TroyandAndreaАй бұрын
Oh it definitely creates wind drag - but only if you were racing at speed. Typically, bike packing set ups are not always about speed. So, for me, I am not moving really fast, so I don't notice a difference at all, other than the weight in the steering. If you are worried, I would get comfortable without it at first, then maybe try it in a place with no traffic. I would not take any chances with safety concerniong traffic. Hope that helps!

I just picked up a used 21' Talon E+ 3 29er for my 70 year old father. I think it should be a GREAT bike for him! Word to the wise - it's probably worth getting the manufacturer's app and investigating the bike more before proceeding with purchase (or have the current owner send it to you.) Reason I say this - is the used Talon E+ I just bought supposedly had "250 miles to school and back" allegedly according to the seller. She was the mother of the owner, and it has been several years since purchase so I'll give her that .. Pull up the app however when I got home, and the data shows the bike has been ridden 1100 miles! Quite a bit of difference which would have certainly affected the final sale price. Always do your homework!

@@JohnChristopher-k7u Yeah, I broke one on a different model bike. Bummer. There are a few different mounting brackets, so it depends which one is more breakable. @@TroyandAndrea “Different mounting brackets”? That’s news to me. In the time I’ve had my 2019 Giant Fathom E+ 3 29er, I’ve destroyed 4 brackets, two of them out of warranty. I’ve now ended up doing a gorilla fix, using a spare bit of inner tube and a couple of zip ties to secure my controller to my handlebar.
