Thanks for filming and posting. Some beautiful coastal features at Shelter Cove. I grew up in So Cal and have some familiarity with the coastal areas and also Catalina Island. Been living in Oregon for many years and there are some really beautiful coastal areas here as well.

I love this video, really brings back the nostalgia! I remember my grandparents taking me there when I was, I can't remember how old, but definitely single digits haha. I still have my magic key that I came across the other day in a keepsake box 😊. Had to look it up on KZbin to see if it was still around. Nice to see there are still simple places for our youth to see even today. ❤

Awww, I love this! Our son still gets so excited when he finds his magic key and EVERY time says, "I want to go back to Children's Fairyland". And yes, we love the simplicity and the price tag of this amusement park, so that families will continue to bring their kids generation after generation and continue to make lasting memories!

Why is it called the Lost Coast ? everyone knows where it is now and has always known where it is in the past . i've been there many times and never got lost 😂
@ForgetSomeday17 күн бұрын
I'm sure back when the region was still somewhat undiscovered, the name fit perfectly! "Found Coast" doesn't have quite the same alluring pull for those who have yet to discover it! Ha ha!!

What about restroom stops? 90 mins is a tad long for the littles.
@ForgetSomeday17 күн бұрын
Great question! At the turnaround spot, there will be a 10-minute stop where you can get out and explore the redwood grove and use the restroom!

Now that marijuana is legal in California, it is now safe to go to the Shelter Cove area. Many illegal pot growers have died and killed there over the years!

I went there so many times as a kid, we lived by the grand lake theater. When I go to the city, the places I pass on the freeway 580, give me good feelings of my childhood...

Can a low clearance compact car make the dirt road if i go slow?
@ForgetSomedayАй бұрын
We drove it in a Kia Forte and didn't have any issues. Are far as super low clearance vehicle... I'm not sure. Definitely don't attempt the drive after a rain when the road could be slick. Otherwise, give it a go and turn back if it doesn't seem safe with your car. (You can still drive Mattole Road without the dirt road detour, but it's so worth the drive, if your car allows.)

@ForgetSomeday2 ай бұрын
@@RolandinBroward We're actually Florida natives who lived in the Sunshine State for more than 20 years, and while Florida has its perks, we'd have to politely disagree. California is where it's at! We know there are pros and cons to both states, and everyone has their own preferences. We just feel you can't beat the landscapes here in the Golden State.
@RolandinBroward2 ай бұрын
@ForgetSomeday yeah that's the only good thing about California everything else is not good I lived in LA for a year and a half and came back to Florida. If there was a different governor and lifestyle California would definitely be the best state to live but meanwhile it's not.

@@RolandinBroward Isn't that funny. All those Floridians driving U Haul truck away from Florida all state that if there was a different governor Florida would definitely be the best state.
