I went out for a JUNK HUNT around the city of Norwich and found loads of materials and then used them to make a woodworking project! I like using waste materials in my project so searching the alleyways, communal bin areas and skip diving or dumpster diving is a great way to find things!

Glad I'm not the only one that sees others' "junk" as a source of useful material - picked up a square drain pipe for my AC pipework the other week 😁 Not to mention 3 fully working printers at a GP surgery and the kids' school - maximum pages printed 150 = ~£1 per page 🙄

Just curious, have you never heard about how trash recycling is a farce? The costs are too high and most of it goes to the landfill. Environmental impact very small, and actually may be a net negative because of the resources expended to process the trash

Good hunting. I intercepted a solid wood kids cot when I was at the tip. I checked after i got it and they retail for €500!!!. I was going to chop it up for materials, but now it's doing great service in the garage containing the bales of pet bedding and feed. 😂

That desk half was a good find! I've picked up two of those full desks, one from the road side, the other from gumtree - both in Norwich. That little cabinet turned out great! It cleaned up so nicely. There was a house a road over from us clearing stuff out a few months ago, and I could see a small tv stand and a taller shelf sticking out of their skip but I didnt even go over for a look because we didn't have the space to store any of it. I'm in the middle of building a workshop now and I'd love to try fixing up some old furniture when I'm set up properly

I am Dutch but live in the Belgium Ardennes. Here most people also burn wood to heat. But when i go to the Netherlands to family and so, i see loads of wood in containers ( that go on lorries). They just throw it away. Also because using wood to heat of for coziness it very discouraged by the government. But where i live it is okay. I can and do take some wood sometimes but not loads. The Dutch even have a "complain line" to call if you have a complain about somebody in your street heating with wood. From the old hay floor beams i made a 3,4m long workbench and soon i will make one from the 5,5m long beams, that i still have. I am more into metal working but with such video's i also learn working with wood.

I have made a couple of the kiddie stools for friends. They are great to get the toddlers involved. Keep them coming Keith.

Love the videos. Something to give a go (had it demonstrated at a trade show I went to). When using the pullsaw trying only applying pressure on the back stroke and almost but not quite lifting the saw off the material on the forward stroke. The cut is about 4x the speed with the pullsaws I have. Keep up the good work! kind regards Ben Martin

I had a go at getting cheap funiture off FB marketplace to chop up for stock. Got a nice small Mahogany cupboard nearby, then a few times going to look at stuff which were listed as solid wood and ended up being cheap veneered chipboard. With the cost of fuel I gave up trying. Great video, all the stuff turned out great! For the helping stool for Baby Brown, the only comment I would have is the stability of it if its not pushed right up against a worktop (like it is in your picture) When B.B. gets a bit older and starts moving it around on their own, it has the risk of tipping forward as they reach forward for things if its not supported. When we made something similar out of an Ikea step stool, we added legs that stuck out at the front to stop it from being able to topple forward. But maybe yours is more solid than ours was, just something to look out for!
