I have a well-preserved Tudor Prince Oysterdate that I believe was made for the Asian market, judging by the quality of the dial. At the time, I was torn between a very vintage mechanical Rolex that was fairly affordable and the Tudor, which had the same look, the same features except for the movement, and above all, a stunning blue dial (the same shade as today’s Rolex OP blue dials). Honestly, I chose the Tudor and I don’t regret it. Buying a Rolex means paying a high price for a professional watch that passes itself off as a luxury item, but that’s not the case. Tudor is a high-end brand, while Rolex is more professional, but I find the price difference between Rolex and Tudor just for the movement to be excessive. Plus, in the end, my blue Tudor looks much nicer. Buying a Rolex just for the sake of owning a Rolex? Meh. And the number one issue with Rolex-today, I have the means and the money to buy a brand-new Submariner, but why? A Rolex that I might get stolen (my Tudor 1926 was stolen), that someone might mistake for a fake, or that I might be seen as a nouveau riche who doesn’t know much about watches? No thanks. Being passionate about Japan, I find Grand Seiko far more successful, and their dials are true works of art.

Does the 79220 only have hand winding and time setting crown positions? Did Tudor remove the date setting stem position of the ETA 2824? No ghost date crown position on these watches?

I love my SMP. The stainless steel bracelet looks kind of old-fashioned and is much too heavy. The silicone strap, on the other hand, is really perfect. I don't understand why people are complaining about the bezel. What do you use the bezel for? Most of you are not divers. I would hate it if the bezel adjusted itself like on my Tag Heuer. The glass back of my SMP is fascinating. While Rolex owners are obviously constantly turning the bezel, I prefer to look at the movement. if my Sub arrives, I'll keep my SMP anyway. Great watch! I'm not sure if the surcharge for a Rolex sub is justified.

How do you feel about the summer blue color? I'm thinking of getting a seamaster as my one big luxury watch and am deciding between the black, blue, and summer blue. I feel like the black version will be timeless, while the standard blue is the classic seamaster color, but the summer blue really stands out to me. I'm just worried after a while, I may get tired of it as a fad color.

A story to share: After the release of the SPB451J1, I went to try it out in my local AD. The wear on the wrist was awesome but I could not take the symmetry when I look at the watch face since the date window is now between 4 and 5 hour markers. On the same day, I was offered a SPB149J1 and went to try it out. Decided to get it in a heartbeat as it came in mint at 50% off. Was fortunate to come across such a deal. The dial on the SPB149J1 is impeccable. You really need to see it in person to give it justice. Being a limited edition, the golden seconds hand and gold text does add a nice touch to finish the watch off. Definitely a watch that I would keep. In this case of SPB143, I would say it is a steal in today's market. Would recommend people to get the SPB14x series if symmetry is an issue for you with the new SPB45x series :) For replacement bracelets for the SPB14X series, I would highly recommend Uncle Seiko for its sheer quality and outstanding finish and options for you to choose from. unclestraps.com/en-sg/collections/62mas

These seamasters are built like a tank. I had the chrono version, for 7 years before trading it for a ceramic submariner no date. When i got the sub my first impression was: Why the F does this cost twice the price, it's not built better, it doesn't feel in any way more luxurious. But my SMP chrono was too chunky, hated the green lume, so had to go. Going forward in time before the spectre 300 master co-axial got discontinued, the non spectre version, my AD offered it 20 percent off. I bought it straight away, wasn't sure about it, but once it went on the black-grey nato, the watch has fully came alive, and i've not been happier. Blue lume finally, vintage design, gmt hour function, see through caseback, no helium valve. It is the perfect bond watch for me. But blue being my favourite color, i will possibly add this model of yours to the collection. When i want sg cheap but bond like, i wear the casio ae1200, the only cheap watch that delivers fun, and usability way way way above its price. Can only recommend :)

I am not a diver nor will I use the explorer for spelunking - which objectively should I go for?
