You're able to put in words the feelings and impressions and art ambitions that I struggle to even acknowledge, and then masterfully translate them into a free, genuine and expressive piece of art. Congratulations and thank you for the guidance.

Thank you for the video. One thing that I'm not understanding is that when you paint the warm over the cool it maintains that orangey colour, but when I try it it just becomes green and doesn't give the effect that you have. Why is this happening and what can I do to prevent it?
@yhzhongwatercolor3 ай бұрын
@goncalofigueiredo5986 Thanks for your message. You avoid the color turning green by lowering the saturation of the orange.

Another really helpful video - seeing an expert get into a bit of a mess and work his way out of it. I’ll do better now not short cutting the planning stage. 😀

Lovely painting. Thanks for saying how long it took. Very helpful to know as I usually feel I should be able to do something this intricate in a couple of hours, but can’t.

Yong, what a pleasure to follow your process and reasoning while deciding which colour and brush stroke you should use! And how interesting it is to understand your decisions! I have been following you for a while and I've learnt a lot, even though I am very keen on painting as well. Thank you!

Great demo. I'm learning a lot from your channel and by studying your paintings. Can you tell me if you pre stretch your paper or is it dry and you just tape it down before you begin painting?

Greetings from Canada, just found your channel, it can take a while for videos to show up. Love your work, very lively and interesting. Also love your approach. Breaking down the painting into value shapes really helps simplify things. Makes it less overwhelming. Know what you mean about the polishing process [from another video], a person can lose themselves which l think can be very therapeutic because your worries and troubles are not in the forefront of your mind, the painting is.......we as artists can become entranced.......nothing wrong with that as long as you remember to take a break.....wishing you much success......you are very talented.

Thank you this is a beautiful work Good instructions The colors are really talking to each other One question I am a sumi-e painter, moving toward watercolor I like that you use Asian brushes I am going to use mine Do you hold your brush,the Chinese way? Do you paint on a flat surface or the western way At an angle on an easel?

Looking forward to the color class in January. This is what was missing from Mastrius and also, if something went awry on that day at the hour, I was s… out of luck. (Like car refusing to start and towing companies so busy I had to sit in a cold car waiting for 8 hours 😜 and then walk for an hour to get home) In a way, I hate zoom classes but not having to drive in Seattle traffic is a bonus. Thank you. Love your work.
