Nice Job Sir! Question - I noticed the pocket holes - was that just to re-enforce the rails? And lastly, did you use furniture grade pine?
@DanielGuillette
@DanielGuillette 10 күн бұрын
I used the pocket holes to hold the shutter together. If I did it again I’d mortise and tennon or use dowels to joint them. I used basswood. Ordered it through rocker.

@@laketogulffishing I love how easy it is to control the braking system and it’s a solid ounce less than my old reel. The drag however I’m not used to, it’s a bit more stronger than my concept Z’s…lost a few fish in the process figuring the drag out but i think I got it now. Overall I’m happy, a huge upgrade over my old reels.

Kwigglers are a great lure that last. I am not sponsored by any lure brands because I like having the versatility of using whatever brand will get the job done that day. A popping cork on a gulp is deadly and extremely productive too.

I've tied a little nylon/small rope on my boga grip so when i hold fish up the rope has marks 20/30 inches so on instead of marking your rod or wading back to the boat to measure it ❤TX
@DanielGuillette
@DanielGuillette 16 күн бұрын
@@Jay-v1y6z that’s a good idea. I usually use my rod to measure but that can be inaccurate. A wade with a board boat I broke again that was attached to my net. I had to go to the boat because where I was wading was too deep and I couldn’t lift the fish high enough to get the tail out the water and wanted to get a drink of water too.

Without telling or giving me any specifics, can you tell me some general areas that your could recommend me to make some productive casts? Thank you.

@@hectorcoria3650 if you time your trip to wade when a front sizzles out, look in Rivera, TX. A general search in the area and you can find a few public piers and boat launches you can wade by them. I'm curious but to get a hide that would be softer does it just depend on how long you work the hide? Super informative video though!
@DanielGuillette
@DanielGuillette 2 ай бұрын
You could learn how to ‘shave’ the hide thinner. Thin the hide towards the neck and spine where it’s thinner. Also sanding it down as shown can thin it a bit. But all I know is to make it soft you need to put the time in working it.
