I hope that all of the California locations were not harmed in the recent fires.

Seeing the Palace of Fine Arts makes me think of the movie Time After Time (1979) about HG Wells time traveling to 1979 San Francisco. Wonderful film.

Thanks for another great filming location video! I just stayed at the Hyatt Regency right behind that fountain. I love the glass elevators that were the inspiration for the elevators in Towering Inferno.

The great LA fire of January 2025, I believe it wiped out the neighborhood where the barn was. A couple of days ago I heard the fire was threatening Thousand Oaks.
@StanleyFoss7 күн бұрын
So far I think Thousand Oaks is ok, but other locations I have filmed in Pacific Palisades are gone. Very tragic and heartbreaking for all those people affected.

Good job! Interesting information about the areas. I remember that show. I liked it. But I only remember watching one season. I think the network must have changed its schedule and I lost the show somehow. That might be why it got low ratings and was cancelled. I remember when Rebecca was murdered. It was very sad.
@StanleyFoss8 күн бұрын
Yeah I remeber watching it, then it seemed like it ended quickly? Your right it probobly got moved to another day?

As a SF local, I had no idea the Palace of Fine Arts was actually rebuilt in the 60s! As for Lombard street, it's not even the most crooked street in SF. A stretch of the not-well-known Vermont Street is 🙂

Yes my mind was blown when I saw the pictures of the demolished Palace also! Ahh cool Vermont st… might need to make a video .. :)

Stanley thanks so much for all the history of California I learned so much on this one, Alta Cali, Pio Pico, and I was in SF the week before that quake in 89 in fact I was there for a mini quake, the precursor for the one that took out the double decker freeway, I'm so glad my vaca ended just before the big one, a personal note my great grandfather lived in Alta California and his descendants including my dad were part of that Alta Cali history...Javi G.

Fantastic job as always Stanley. Was seriously considering purchasing a home across the way from the The Palace of Fine Arts. Absolutely gorgeous view looking out your window and seeing this iconic location.
