One big piece of advice in winter, DO NOT sweat…sweat means hypothermia and death.

When i was homeless I used a wool sheepskin rug from a yard sale and wool blankets. Be careful with gas and propane with corbon monoxide

if your going to be homeless in your car, you might as well drive to a state where it never or rarely gets cold, so you don't have to worry about the ELEMENTS killing you or severely injuring you

Zippo handwarmers are the bee's knees. I put one in my coveralls when the weather gets extra nasty. Makes the felt temperature about 20 °F warmer.

Parking someplace out of the wind is advisable. And to be honest, cars are not very good shelters- one could easily do better in a tent with a sleeping bag. A lean-to tarp set up and a fire would be even better. If you're car living right now and have internet to see this, start studying bushcraft. Tons of content here on ThemTube

I live in a 98 escort that had no blower motor for a month until it fixed the blower motor so it finally had blowing heat during the winter. Lived in it for 3 months. Got kicked out of so many rest stops and about got kicked out of deer Creek in Ohio. Still miss the summer nights sneaking the car into a field and looking up at the moon from a blanket

I lived in a tent , and under the bridge. We didn’t have the luxury of a running car or heated blankets lol. Layers did it for me. Many many layers

Using start your car and use the heat as number one is common sense and shouldn't even need to be said. The blanket gonna run your battery dead, and who plugging a heater into that battery generator box? They need 6 feet of space in front of them to use safely, that wouldn't even work. This whole video is bad advice

When I was younger I was homeless living in a car in the upper Midwest. Clean wool socks you only wear while sleeping, a good beanie, and staying hydrated. Valuable lessons on staying warm that has payed off so many times throughout the rest of my life.

May I ask how can you afford travel when you’re homeless? Do you have a job? Also how do you shower? Really curious. I’ve always wanted to travel but I lost my job and it’s hard for me to find one. Also be careful of Temu. They found out Temu has has hundreds of toxic chemicals like lead and a bunch of other things in there products. Please be careful when using them.

Honestly, a few candles on the dashboard (obviously not around where you could knock them over in your sleep) is enough to take the edge off. I’ve spent a few nights in non-heated bobhouses and had like 6 small candles burning the entire night. With a sleeping bag and a wool blanket, I was warm enough.

Solar shades for windshield and rear window help reduce heat transfer. If possible, Avoid having anything wet inside the cabin. I would also try to not sleep in the clothes i was wearing, sleep clothes. Stay hydrated. Drink regularly and dont chug, let the body absorb, peeing really does work both ways. You pee more often when its cold becouse of blood vessels near the skin contract, trying to protect tissue under the skin, it is an uncomfortable survival response that makes you feel cold even thought the body is doing it's job. You will lose some body heat when you urinate but the body will require less energy to keep the core warm. Being able to "tinkle" a little if you wanted without needing to is probably ideal.

Parking in residential areas are perfect, especially in middle class neighborhoods. Helped me in college when I was late submitting my housing application and was put on the waiting list.
