Could you do a tutorial on rebuilding the mesh? I am trying so hard to print a spaceship from a game I play and I cannot seem to unhollow it.
@SevenScalesКүн бұрын
Yeah I might create one just haven’t got a lot of time recently. Tldr version: divide the model into smallest possible components, then you could either rebuild that component manually or use remesh modifier in blender. Remesh is fast but loses some detail and require a lot of cpu power.

I can't get the .scbp file which was exported by starfab into blender. Always returns "Failed to import SCBP".. What version of Blender did you use? Are you still able to import ship models into Blender? I want to fire up my resin printer to make a highly detailed model of the reworked Polaris. Would appreciate any help and even send you a model if successful. Cheers

Really nice work, I'm already building one from Gambody but I like this design, looks a lot better to add lighting to it. So I purchased your to compare both models on my chanel when done. Thanks for sharing this video, Awesome work. USA SPFLD.

Amazing model. Was thinking about buying the STL and making it bigger to use as a Warhammer 40K proxy. Would the file handle upping the size to make the Scorpion 9/10 inches long?

For whomever is working on this model, the glass panels in the rear can be done with mycrosol ( or any other brand of glass looking glue) and the tiniy side panels on the cockpit canopy glass, all others have to be vacuformed for best results

wow, what a fantastic work. I would love to see more on the modeling part and how you shape things in blender, how you merge different parts and that sort of modeling workflow. Also, in case you take suggestions on what to model, pls make a SU-27 or SU-35, the swanlike lines of these jets are so incredible beautiful, i tried to model one for print but the shapes where too difficult for my current level of modeling. Regards

Thanks! i didn’t make blender videos as there are a lot of good blender tutorials out there, maybe I’ll make a few anyway. The su planes are extremely popular i’d suggest search on thingiverse maybe sketchfab for a free model so you could just focus on details instead of worrying about the shape. I don’t plan to build a lot of modern jets so you probably won’t see me making a su35, however I do at least plan to make my favourite jets like the yf23 and x32 😆

@@SevenScales oh, i get it, yeah still i think yours (blender tuts) would be of much more interest than what is out there since you are specifically modeling for 3dprint. so if you decide to make any they will be highly appreciated. The problems and solutions you will be showing are the sort of our specific interest and not with the classic focus on just visual fx and such. Cheers :)

Custom printed holder is a neat idea! And for such tiny builds I highly recommend 'ABS-like' resins - they're way more forgiving and feels more like regular model plastic...

haha It's designed to mount on my airbrush so i can create abit of pressure on the inside when applying the window liquid to prevent it from sagging, but it didn't work out as much as i hoped! Thanks for the recommend I will try some of that resin next time!

Do you have any tips or do you know any good tutorial for panel lines? I´m modeling a N1 starfighter from Star Wars in Blender (for 3d printing) and I don´t know how to do the panel lines without making chaos in the topology. Btw I love your models and Im learning a lot from your videos
@SevenScales8 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if my method is unique or not but i make the panel lines by creating plates. 1. make a copy of the original model so the original topology isn't changed 2. use knife tool to cut desired panelines (you can highlight the cuts by "mark sharp" so they are easier to see in viewport. You can also use bevel weight) 3. select those edges you want as panelines, use bevel (ctrl-b) to add gaps 4. after bevel, just delete the gaps while they are selected 5. add solidify modifier, adjust the offset so that it overlapse with the original model Since stl files doesn't really care about overlapping just make sure every object doesn't have holes (non-manifold), there's a included addon you can enable in blender called 3D-print toolbox which helps you identify gaps and holes (modifier needs to be applied first). hope this helps!

This is awesome! Please tell me how you were able to recreate it so accurately, I'm also woking on a model of the Milano but in LEGO and want to make it as close to the original as possible. But as you said in your video, the reference material is very limited. Did you get any 3D file sent by the designer or just copied everything from the movie. Thanks. Btw you're model is astonishing, keep it up.
@SevenScales8 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for your comment!! I didn't get 3D file from the designer, I used screenshots as if they were orthographic views like this: imgur.com/a/drw25yN I spend about half a year on this model, i remember once in a while i would spot some details that i missed and it all added up over time. Building this in lego will be a pretty big challenge, i think the most important feature is the 3 pointed star shaped nose and the curve connecting from the nose to the stubby shoulder wing, if you somehow get those right the model should turn out great!
@digtano8 ай бұрын
@@SevenScales Thanks for your advice. By now your video has helped me the most and since I'm not really interested in spending half a year rewatching GOTG I'm really grateful and impressed by the work you have done XD. I think you should consider making another ship like this sometime in the future, like the Benatar or Rocket's Warbird. You're pretty good at it.
