If it is permissible . The further question of mine is, what if everyone keeps birds in cages?. The ecosystem will be endangered . No it is not good raise birds as pets. It is the behaviour of fasad ( destruction)

Why - because you are making the seller to commit SINFUL ACTS by making him hunt for free living Birds and caging them to sell for people who like to release them and "EARN GOOD DEEDS" In conclusion YOU'RE COMMITTING A BIGGER SIN BY MAKING ANOTHER PERSON COMMIT SINS" So my dear brothers and sisters please be be caring and kind to all animals and do not cage them restricting their freedom of enjoying nature as it's meant to be.

The mentioned narration doesn’t argument that any bird or animal is permissible to kept as a pet. As that was not practised by Prophet صلی اللّٰہ علیہ وسلم or by Companions رضوان اللّٰہ علیہ اجمعین. Only those animals and birds are familiarly permissible to be kept who benefit human. It has become a fun and source of show off by keeping expensive animals and birds of no use.
