I have been able to stock up by buying bulk and breaking it down using my seal-a-meal. Everything is put into packages of the amount that I'll use. I've used a seal-a-meal for over 20 years. I even got one for my daughter. They are fantastic to own because vacuum sealing your food makes it last so much longer. It won't get freezer burn either.

I will finish stocking up both of my pantries later this week. I have a pantry in the basement and one on the main floor. I have 2 freezers not counting my refrigerator freezer. One is a 21 cubic foot upright and the other is a 5.5 cubic foot. I'm 71 years old and live alone. I live on my Social Security check so it has taken me a few months to accomplish getting it all done. Mainly now I need to buy more paper products. Then I'll have enough here for at least a year. I keep my paper products in a different room than my pantry in the basement.

I just tried 2 loaves one after the other both sunk in the middle. Any idea what i did wrong? I thot i followed the recipe perfectly. My yeast was in the fridge tho. Could that have been it? I use it like that for other things without a problem.
Why did it drop/collapse? This is the issue I have when baking einkorn, it does not keep its rounded top after you take it out of the oven and cool it.

great video. I will have to re-watch to write down the instructions since they aren't in the description. So you can do this with beauty berries? Interesting thanks!

Seems a waste to leave berries in the jar. How much juice do you really get from the jar? Once cup?

Thank you so much for this video! I have a question. I just cracked a couple of our eggs that I out in jars (water glassed) in July of this year. They were watery which seems could be normal based on your video. They smelled ok but I was reluctant to feed them to my family. I did use fresh (less than 5 days)eggs. I realized the storage space I chose may have gotten too warm. It was under my counter but on the counter is my toaster oven which I use daily for baking small things. I’m concerned it may have gotten too warm inside the cupboard consequently. If they were to warm, would the eggs smell bad/ rotten? If not smelly, I can assume they are safe even if they’re a little watery??

Great video! Two questions: 1) what size bread pan do you recommend? I have both 8 ½ x4 ½ and 9 x 5 2) I have a WonderMix (wish I still had my old KA Mixer) - should I still knead for 10 minutes? I plan to make this as soon as I have answers. 🙂

How is your dough so yellow ? When I sift the bran out of mine it’s still pretty brown
@jobyden105Ай бұрын
nope. way too cumbersome. Just fork up the cash and get a good grinder. This would just discourage me from doing additional grinding with other meats. A good grinder from a company like MEAT will cost you about 500. You get what you pay for.

It was a little bit hard to follow you since the noise from the mixer was drowning out your voice. Hope to try this and hope I wrote everything down correctly. Thank you.

I’m a beginner and I made this twice. The first time I followed the recipe exactly and it was too strong on the Toasted sesame oil for my preference. The second time I just made it with a few tablespoons of toasted sesame oil and both mayonnaise and ranch dressing are more delicious. Don’t get me wrong. I ate all of the previous recipe and it was good. But it was a little bit exotic tasting compared to this second time

Had my first attempt to make this bread today. I could only obtain the whole grain, so I had to grind it first. I used 500 grams of grains (not sifted) and 350 grams of water, but that may have been too much (try using an online converter to calculate cups to milliliters ;)), so it remained a little too fluid and didn't rise very much. I also used too big of a loaf pan, so I ended up with a very low and compact loaf. The taste however is great and the bread is lowcarb-friendly, so I'll keep experimenting with this recipy until I get a better result.

Thank you I waterglassed eggs last year, but lost 12 chickens to predators and we're actually using our eggs. Like you said, test each egg individually, some egg yolks look strange but smell & taste fine in scramble & baking. @ you answered all my questions, especislly about reusing the solutionbless you & thank you! Liking & subscribing.

I just bought two bags of einkorn flour from Whole Foods as a new einkorn user. Can you explain the difference in taste and texture using einkorn vs wheat flour, please? Does it require more leavening agents to make products rise since it has less gluten? Thank you.

You might consider to seal smaller portions at a time. Once you open that 5 gallon bag, all of the food product is exposed. Take a 5 gallon bag, cut it in half. Pour in, seal the bottom half. Then seal the bottom of the cut off piece. Fill it. Then seal it. Now, you used one bag for two fills and only expose half of the product at a time. Might help reduce the exposure when it comes to rodent or pest damage also.

I have a question. I've heard about using warm food grade mineral oil to create a bloom on store bought eggs to extend their shelf life. Can you waterglass these treated eggs if they are the freshest in the store and treated right away?

Hi there! I'm currently making this recipe, second rise in loaf pan. I'm a little confused. The bake temp in the video is 375 and the bake temp in the print out is 350. My dough was way more sticky and runny than yours appears. Wondering what I did wrong. I did add honey. Thanks!
@jackies98672 ай бұрын
yes i noticed that the video and the printout are so different! when i went based off of strictly the video the first time, it turned out great. then when i tried again and went off of the printout, it was awful! the printout misses a lot of helpful info that she mentioned in the video. also i notified that she did not add honey in the video?? i’m going to try again for a 3rd time tonight (watching the video)

Do you blanch your potatoes at all before canning? My ball canning book said to blanch for 2 mins & I did but some of russet potatoes are mushy on bottom of my jars? Idk what I did wrong. This was my first time canning potatoes & I had 35 pounds & I had 2 seals that failed. Idk what to do with those jars?! lol I just put them in my fridge. I’m worried if they’ll be too mushy to cook with a roast etc (the canned ones that sealed) or if you have to put them in at the end of a meal so they’re not overcooked. 🤷♀️
