@RustyZipper18 сағат бұрын
I’m Not sure if you understand how a business works but he earned $4k in profit which he applied to the loan for the equipment. So you are correct, he hasn’t made any money nor will he for a year or so. But he could sell the trailer (now used) and probably pocket $1k of that $4k. With an estimated depreciation of $3k over a year, which is a tax deduction. Most businesses don’t show a net profit for 3+ years. I know folks who rarely “show” a profit on their taxes but that’s a whole different story.

If you tried making money with a trailer here in the suburbs of Philly you would be lucky to make $20k in a year. Every supply house delivers landscaping materials for cheap, Home depots all rent dump trailers, trailer companies rent them and private people rent them. No money to be made on one in this area.
@RustyZipper18 сағат бұрын
I’m rural upstate NY and not many places rent them anymore 🤷♂️ I’m not sure if there’s a market but I do know there’s waayyy too many roll off dumpster rental companies to consider that as viable.

I purchased my Lamar 5X10 single axel last year and profited about 4K over the course of the year. I charge $225 per run (48hr load period) plus the dump fee. Im lucky to live on a well traveled road so the lettering on the side of the trailer as been the main way I've advertised. I think after this year I'm going to trade it in for a 7X14 K&N which will hopefully bring in more money per use. This is a good side hustle if you have the ability to advertise it.

The dot part is a bit misleading. It’s not based on your weight it’s based on your gross combined weight. Meaning if your truck is 10k gvwr and you have a trailer with tandem 8k axles as soon as you hook up weather the trailer is empty or full you’re not legal and the fine is huge. And that’s with a 3/4 ton truck. If you run 350/3500 or bigger you have even less weight available for trailer non cdl

I've been thinking of getting a 7x14 dump trailer for about five years. My friend does it but the initial investment is a little steep and running the business is a little challenging.
@Rob-r2sАй бұрын
One of my friends has two trailers and does this same thing. I've been talking to him about it and wouldn't interfere with his business because we live about 45 minutes away from each other. His smaller trailer is I think a 7x14 and the larger one is I think a 7x18. He is a solo operator. Much of the time he parks the bigger one at a job for them to fill up and he hulls it to the dump. The other one he delivers mostly rock. The problem is that I might not have the correct size of truck. I have a 2001 Dodge 2500 diesel, 4x4, manual transmission, 8' bed and it's not a duly. The issue is a duly and I'm not sure if my transmission is strong enough. He has a 2022 GMC duly with an Allison transmission.
@nickc7320Ай бұрын
You have a good truck. Just figure out your tow capacity and payload. Payload plays into the tongue weight. And you can always look into a weight distribution hitch as well
@Rob-r2sАй бұрын
@@nickc7320 Those are good points that I didn't know about. I've also heard that I could install air shocks. I just talked to my friend about this and he said that I will go through breaks and rear tires pretty fast. He also said that my manual transmission won't last as long as an automatic transmission and the trailer prices have shot up in price almost double in just two or three years which is crazy.

Hey, Austin! I'm going through your videos and learning so much. Really appreciate your transparency and willingness to share. I know it's time consuming to put out your videos. I have a 2002 F250 with the 7.3 Powerstroke diesel which mostly sits when we're not using it to tow our fifth wheel. Been thinking about using it to make some passive income and think I might have a good way, thx to you and your videos. In this particular one, I really dig that black or grey (hard to tell!) Ford with the black flatbed. I'd consider getting a flatbed for ours as well, especially for a gooseneck dump trailer eventually (would probably start out with a bumper tow first). Anyhoo, thx again and God bless! 😊🙏🏼👍🏼
@rogermccaslin5963Ай бұрын
I'm not trying to denigrate you and your analysis, however, not counting your time when you talk about the payback is a bit misleading (even though you disclosed that fact). You should factor in a decent pay rate in your calculations to get a fair look at the business (as well as vehicle expenses, insurance, etc.). Your payback is probably more like two years if you throw all the other expenses in. Still not bad. Most businesses would be happy with that. And, if you make it a full-time job rather than a side hustle, it could be as low as a couple of months. It seems like the potential is there.

So are ya a Veteran? Great video about the F-250 and I’ve watched what Tow Piglet has said about the newer F250-350 trucks and their transmissions vs Dodge & Duramax. I also bought mine w cash for $7,000 & it’s a base model and was heavily used for the oil fields and the dust is glued to the panels . I like how ya upgraded to a newer model of panels and I’ll look into doing that . TruckMaster Garage is another source of my truck upgrades information and I’ve learned a lot from him about increasing performance, cooling the engine & transmission & even beefing up my brake booster by buying a 2011 for my 08 Duramax.
