If you’re going to haul material out of a gravel pit/rock quarry where they have a front end loader loading dump trucks…put a CB in your truck! Nothing pisses loader operators off more when they can’t talk to you. There is almost always the cab channel number posted as you enter the pit/wuarry.

YES, contractors- IT'S NOT A RACE TO THE BOTTOM. So much undercutting in the lawn / landscape business. Keep your pricing on the higher side, while still competitive. Don't be that guy that does things for 30-40% cheaper than everyone else- you're cutting your own head off with lost profits, & you're pissing every other contractor off because they have bills to pay, they don't want to match your newbie uneducated prices. Work together for good service at a good price. Would you rather make $70 an hour, or $135 an hour?? There's enough work to go around, keep your prices where they belong

I see you have a telescopic vs scissor lift. Living in Colorado with sometimes colder temps, do you still prefer the telescopic? when you spread gravel down a driveway does it become unstable vs a scissor lift? Love your show, and keep spreading the word of our Lord.
@Haroldsheavyduty3 ай бұрын
Thank you sir, God bless! So far I have had no issues with the telescopic but I do see issues with scissor lift from time to time because of reinforcement issues. I think I still prefer the telescopic even when spreading down the driveway you just have to be a little slower. But that said you don't have to lift that thing all the way up initially. The big old dump truck that helped me with my driveway had to telescopic lift and it seemed sketchy but he had no issues at all and does it all the time.

The weight at which you need a CDL is actually 26,600 lbs. It may seem silly, but that 600 pounds matters. It is a clear line, above this you MUST have a CDL and even if used solely for farm work, where some States do not require a CDL, the Federal Government does. This means if you cross State lines, you must have a CDL, even if being used only for your farm work. Plus, the farm work exemption does not allow for commercial work of others. You can't pick up a load at a place other than your farm, and drop it off at a location, other than your farm. That is considered commercial work, no matter how small the load and violates the farm exemption.

Just so you're aware, the cdl requirement is for what your truck and trailer combined are rated to carry. This is known as combined vehicle weight rating. (CVWR) It doesnt matter if you never haul that amount. If your truck is 13k gvwr and trailer is 14k gvwr you are required to have a CDL. If you wanna be legal.

The dot part is a bit misleading. It’s not based on your weight it’s based on your gross combined weight. Meaning if your truck is 10k gvwr and you have a trailer with tandem 8k axles as soon as you hook up weather the trailer is empty or full you’re not legal and the fine is huge. And that’s with a 3/4 ton truck. If you run 350/3500 or bigger you have even less weight available for trailer non cdl

I hate to burst your bubble, but you better look a little closer at the regs. I think you'll find that if your trailer's gross weight is over 5 tons, you need a class A CDL.
@Haroldsheavyduty4 ай бұрын
A 14000# GVWR trailer would need to be pulled by a truck exceeding 12000# GVWR to have a GCWR over 26000# requiring a CDL. It's the combined weight not individual to the trailer unless... You are towing a trailer with a GVWR of more than 10,000 pounds AND the trailer is designed to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver) OR is used to transport hazardous materials requiring placarding, then you would need a CDL regardless of the total combined weight.
