I live right down the rd from you guys in Larkspur (outside Castle Rock) and had to laugh when I saw this. I used to rent trailers as well, and have some stories to tell from it! Not a business worth being in as people are absolute animals often times. One of my trailers was completely destroyed, but I threatened to take the guy to court and he eventually agreed to buy the trailer (per the contract). Good thing I had a tracking device and could prove it all. Keep doing the deliveries instead! Only downside is the need to maintain that truck. Oh, I have a Lamar dump too… excellent trailers once you swap the tires!

Thank you for sharing your experience. There definitely seems to be a risk with the rentals. I've heard great stories and I've heard horror stories. I'm glad you like your Lamar… They seem to be really well built and sturdy trailers. I like mine!

Why don't you have fuel on your expenses? Also you probably need to think about adding x amount of cents per mile for expenses like tires, oil changes, trailer maintenance?

I would not add all of those things on. People will think you’re nickel and dimming them, just my opinion. You could add something like a transportation insurance charge, easily explained that your insuring the load if any halogens on delivery. Charge more for your labour by a little bit. Or just raise your delivery fee. Very cool business. You could also deliver equipment with a different trailer.

Try adding a wireless remote to your hydraulic pump if you ever get tired of getting in and out of the truck to raise and lower the bed. I'm using the badland wireless winch remote control from Harbor Freight. It saved me a lot of time with and without using a spotter. There's plenty of videos on how to install it on here. I didn't like the fact that they cut the end connector (on the receiver) off to wire up the pump so I figured out my own solution to keep the receiver end connector intact. Some other channels are using another wireless remote from Amazon. If you are tech savvy and have the time, you can build a transmitter/receiver module for a low cost. I needed a quick fix so Harbor Freight was my go-to.

A great trailer we use one where i work at. Haul alot of logs from tree removel. Just watch out for those tires. We had a belt slip on those china junk tires

Good advice! I thought about trying to do some work with trees but I haven't done anything yet. The dealership I bought the trailer from upgraded the tires to 14 ply so hopefully they'll last!

Great video. Do you use any tyoe of payment application to take payment from customers. I see that you purchase the material upfront. Do you require the customer to pay you before picking up the material? I would love to learn more more about using Facebook for advertising this business.

I typically require a deposit. I do use Square for my payment processing. I'll go over this in a video here soon.

Im curious which solar charger you have or how you keep your battery charged to do that many dumps per day?

I just bought a marine grade (waterproof) solar charger with a built-in charge controller off amazon. When the trailer is plugged in to the truck it also charges the battery.

@@Haroldsheavyduty I have a 16’ gooseneck dump trailer and I just ran some SO cable and now I can plug it in to the bed of my truck outlet when hooked up. At home I plug into the wall but am looking at solar chargers

Yes I've been thinking about that a little bit lately since I live in Colorado. I think there will be a job to do still maybe just not as much with the landscaping. Probably more hauling and renting in the winter for peoples projects. I'll have to come up with some ideas for moneymaking in the winter.

I actually do the something similar here in colorado. I have the same trailer as you but I rent it out as a dumpster. Been doing it for 2 years. Have not thought about getting into product delivery. Might be something worth looking into…..do you stay busy?

5 tons. My delivery fee changes depending on peoples locations. I'm still modifying this ever so slightly to figure out what the market can Support but I will go over all of this and one of the next videos
