The example is extremely limited. There's a lot of choices left out of the equation. People barter along with using money anyway. I've done jobs for people that couldn't pay money and they cooked meals for me or did a favor when I needed it. There is always something to trade.

As far as I can see money consists of notes with a value written on them ( £1/1$) ; of the total money not tool large or digital money , the majority of money. Vids like this always mix up the two items If you dont pay with a cheque or debit/credit card how then are notes like £1/$1 created ?

Whats wrong is that the invisible hand one of the dumbest concepts in the history of man. Try to apply it to any other field of human activity, like architecture, traffic, law, medicine, politics etc., and you will get laughed at. But in economics, sure, not having a plan is a great idea! Let everyone do whatever the hell they want with no restrictions, rules or regulations, and things will work out great! Lets build some buildings, but we wont have any plans on how to build buildings and the government will not specify where you can build them, when you can build then and which building standarda have to be respected, everyone just grab a hammer and shovel and things will work out fine. 😁

UBI is necessary for the rich because it serves as a stabilizing mechanism in an increasingly unequal world. By providing a financial baseline to the masses, UBI reduces social unrest and pacifies criticism, ensuring that the wealthy can continue to consolidate their power and profits without significant resistance. It creates the illusion of fairness while leaving systemic inequalities untouched, allowing the rich to maintain control over wealth and resources. In this sense, UBI is less about empowering the poor and more about preserving the status quo for the benefit of the elite.

2:55 "...for practical reasons..." sums it all. Pure socialism isn't inherently bad. It's simply impractical as of this moment and history has been proving so. However, not too far from now, I believe artificial intelligence will solve the current problem that socialism lacks market signals. By that time, the idea of private property, markets and prices would no longer be required, in order for an economy to allocate resources efficiently.
@kekokung15 күн бұрын
Yet if there are too many cleaners than the economy requires. The ones least capable of cleaning will be doomed. Comparative advantage, despite being the most efficient there is, does leave someone behind. And that's why socialism is needed in the picture.

But, in the second case, what if the store owner also wanted his money back? Meaning those 900 bucks. He said he wanted them on demand, he didn't lend any of it to the bank.

Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got talking about investment and money. I started investing with $120k and in the first 2 months , my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and gets more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family.

Hi. I’ve been forced to find additional sources of income as I got retrenched. I barely have time to continue trading and watch my investments since I had my second child. Do you think I should take a break for a while from the market and focus on other things or return whenever I have free time or is it a continuous process? Thanks
@Lourd-Bab21 күн бұрын
@GeorgestraitStriat However, if you do not have access to a professional like SUZANNE GLADYS XANDER, quitting your job to focus on trading may not be the best approach. It is important to consider all options and seek guidance from reliable sources before making any major decisions. Consulting with an AI or using automated trading systems can also be helpful in managing investments while balancing other commitments.

Most pencils are manufactured in China today, not because of Adam Smith’s “invisible hand” but because Chinese state owned corporations and the government work together to manipulate the markets for their advantage. It’s called economic nationalism, and it’s how all developed countries grew rich. South Korea, Japan, Germany, England and the USA (and now China) all used state led developmental capitalism, which is a mix of government intervention and free markets, to grow.

It funny to me that you are arguing that trickle down economy doesn't exist. Then your argument basically supports a tickle down economy because it denies power inequality. Have fun with your logic games.

An easy solution to this problem is government and regulation. The solution talked about by capitalists is that we need private ownership of land, but that doesn’t guarantee any sustainable stewardship of the resources. When land was enclosed, that meant that a private owner could go in and take the land that was being used to graze cattle and make it into a mine and completely destroy it and its potential as pasture land. And when the actions of private owners impact the commons that can’t be privatized, such as air and water, their actions are still detrimental to the entire society and the commons. This is basically the entire situation our economy and society is in now with climate change and many other environmental problems. Also, you can’t talk about tragedy of the commons without recognizing the effect of population growth on land use. As the commons shrunk, the population was growing, so it was inevitable that there would be increased grazing pressure on the land.

Something Econ clips doesn’t consider is that the redistributions of wealth through Obamacare is a type of political patriot age, to reward those who supported the democrats and punish those who didn’t. The classical liberals and libertarians ignore the reality of realpolitik.

Illness isn’t really all about just exercising and eating right. Illness can just be about genetic and environmental bad luck. No one knows what causes neurological diseases like schizophrenia and epilepsy and they aren’t something you can just prevent with diet and exercise.

You mean reduction of total supply will increase price? Who knew? Let’s just blame it on free market capitalism so we can have the socialist revolution. Vox, probably.
UBI is just another scam aimed at saving a moribund capitalistic despotism. Do away with it altogether!

This is just "pie in the sky" nonsense. Just where is all this money going to come from? This is economically stupid. This would cost the Feds 3 TRILLION A YEAR!! The federal government cannot afford this. Thats more money than Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid combined!!. If we pumped 3 trillion dollars of "printed money" into the economy every year, INFLATION WOULD GO THROUGH THE ROOF. We actually saw this happen during the pandemic with all of the money the Feds were printing and sending out to people..This is a crazy idea that would destroy our economy...By the way, we are 36 trillion in debt and currently running 2 trillion dollar deficits every year..adding 3 more trillion every year would send this nation into an economic disaster..

Health care, and health insurance, were fine until the government entered the healthcare market in 1966 with the creation of Medicare. Health care costs took off and have gotten worse every time the government has made an effort to control them. Hospitals leveraged government involvement more than other providers! So, today Hospitals (40% or more of the healthcare dollar) drive increased costs in what has become, due to federal laws, essentially a federal healthcare plan! There are certainly more issues, but these two are significant drivers of increasing costs!
