Have Had mine for about two years there are two oil plugs, one at the rear and one on the side of the engine with a black plug, which I looked in the owners manual, not noted of it kind of strange? The only reason I found out is it came somewhat loose and it was seeping oil out of there and I found it .

Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. kzbin.infoUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.

WARNING!! The 224s have plastic mounted controls. They will break over and over..and costs $100 each time it breaks, if you replace it yourself.. The 227s and higher have steel mounted controls with a plastic cover over the steel, but the controls are not mounted to the plastic..

Definitely user error. I have a 2015 model that has its original belts and had its first spark plug change last month, and the old plug did not even look bad! It has removed wet snow over 2 ft deep. It has not even broken a single sheer pin in 7 years +. When I bought it the salesmen told me not to force it like when throwing heavy wet snow but to go slow. He said some people can burn a belt off a brand new machine forcing it. I remembered his words and this machine has been great!

This video is total bullshit, My new ST224P "does not have" an oil dipstick not eve the opening its gone! it also does not have a tube sticking off the sides to change the oil, its gone! you have to order find a hose through Amazon just to screw in there and be able to drain the oil into a container rather then it going into the machine itself and the tire. A total mess, also the manual doesn't say squat about the procedure, you don't even know where to add oil? Will never buy a product from this company again, what a fiasco!! incredible..

The problem is they farm out their snowblowers to a company called AYP. They aren't the worst machines, but you would have to know exactly the features you want and where the design weaknesses are to know which models will be less problematic than others. And I don't know how much of a premium you might pay for the Husqvarna name over other blowers built by AYP. I do know they did make a high end machine they targeted toward competing with Honda. They might have spent enough to make that a good machine, I dunno. I know they started experimenting with a cast impeller, something I've never seen on another blower. I'm curious to see how they'll hold up and what will happen when/if it fails.

@@grsolutions3607 I think when something works good for somebody, they made the right choice. ;) I hafta share a buddies story, tho. He is a super fan of their chainsaws, so he bought one of their branded blowers without looking into them. The problem is he lives in the woods where debris from trees is a common problem. He broke a couple gearboxes and realized it just wasn't the machine for him, so he sold it and bought an Ariens. However, Huskie has an optional deflector extender (you can see the holes for it in your deflector) and he liked that so much he had one custom made for his Ariens, lol.
