Question. How do you keep the truck from throwing fan circuit codes after going mechanical. My truck keeps grabbing the bracket that holds the wires for the fan clutch and throwing them through the rad. So I’m looking at switching to mechanical as well.

Same brother that’s why I made the swap so is a soft code you delete it once with a regular cheap scan tool and it stays saved in but doesn’t turn the check engine light on or throw any more codes again this on my 04 I don’t know how other years may react

@@BoostedFL perfect my trucks a manual so the electric clutch fan makes the AC sub par. Is the mechanical one pretty loud under load or higher RPM?

@kutterkarns9879 I run a 4.5 ” exhaust and towing my dump trailer all I hear is my turbo and a little bit of the fan I got some footage of pov going up a hill I’ll edit it and put it up but you really can’t tell the difference specially with a manual I’m pondering hard on doing a manual swap

I have plans to do a top end on it injectors springs retainer head gasket and coolant bypass so I’ll do the water pump then just slowly buying the parts is not cheap to do it all by your self

I used a fan clutch wrench if you don’t have you can rent at any auto part return it after and get all your money back so it’s basically borrowing it with a deposit . After I screw it all the way I put my wrench on it and hold the hub and smack the wrench with a hammer to tighten it up.

In my case the fan was intermittent so it was a guessing game weather it would kick on or not I can tell you after running this mechanical fan in florid the must I’ve seen the truck hit is 200 and no engine light just unplug clear the code and it’s a soft code so it stays saved but it won’t throw the engine light

Amazing condition of a truck. bummer its not a 4x4. You can get a E40D from a 7.3 with a transfer case as well as the from TTB 4x4 suspension of an f150 and it will bolt right up. Be carful with that lift on the 2wd, it will rattle itself apart eventually and fuck up your frame
