I have laryngitis and have totally lost my voice. Since having covid in this is the 3rd time it has happened. It is painful to talk, and I totally sympathise with your struggle. I wish you every success in overcoming it! ❤

No ma'am. But I have not told you what to expect, have I. I have just quit an all consuming job and moved abroad. This took considerable time and effort. I am taking a pause from KZbin as I process what just happened and settle into a new chapter of my life. Good work requires good boundaries. Ploughing through because the algorithm must be satiated (feed me, Seymour!) is a great recipe for half assed videos, creator burnout, sickness, and mid life crisis. I've taken my power back. There will be new content when I have something to share that deserves your attention. I do not submit to being a mechanical content-creating machine; I remain an entirely and unfortunately unpredictable human. :) Thank you for your continued enthusiasm to see more of my work. I appreciate you.

And to address the veiled implication about my previous project, if you really believe that I "gave up" on it, then you have as much to learn as I did about diversity, equity, and inclusion. I invite you to open your eyes and ears. All the best

As someone who used not able to do a single pull up, yeah, try doing something even if it looks pitiful, even if it's not good, do that long enough and you will be able to do it or at the very least get very close to it. Thanks to my hundreds of sad attempts at pull ups, now I can do proper pull ups.

Well said, Cathy! I went shopping for blue jeans today. I hate shopping for paints. I came home with nothing. They are so expensive and so cheaply made. It's been a long time since I've bought jeans. I couldn't believe how poor quality they were...and I was looking at name brands too. I'm finishing up my new art studio. Hope to set up and do some oil painting after the first of the year (Jan 2025). I'm looking forward to getting back into creating again.

I'm one of the people you mentioned who is self taught and not confident of my skills. I recently made a bunch of stuff for a street fair. I had dozens of people I'd never met before praising my work and it came as quite a shock. One lady who has been sewing for years told me that my sewing was the best she'd seen at the fair so it's comforting to know I'm on the right track.

“I just can’t” in the western US is something that ditzie chicks say about other ditzie chicks when they look really adorable or say something hilarious. It’s a doting term for ditzes.

My ambitious project that you have inspired me to actually begin is relining a sleeping bag. It has that thin nylon or polyester net/mesh lining. You know the kind of fabric that snags and tears at the tiniest imperfection in your skin while simultantiously causing you to stew in your own juices? I bought several meters of a mustard yellow cotton flannel at a discount textile store as it was going out of business over a decade ago. I've put this project with all sorts of excuses about skill level, time constriants, and proper equipment. Then, a few months ago when I wad at one of the lowest points in my entire life, I stumbled across your videos. I've been watching in no particular order and seeing you recreate a coat from a collection of photographs and the recent aquisition of a quilting frame set my tipping point. Now, I sew along. I mostly listen to your calm encouragement of playing the long game on projects as I work. I can't wait to be done, but I'm actually enjoying the process for a change instead of seeing an endless parade of impossible steps.

Thank you very much, I appreciate your comment very much. As you can probably imagine, the last 3 years or so have been a big growth journey, moving through challenge and re-calibrating myself as life turns upside down and becomes quite new. I will be posting again soon, and your support really helps me gather my confidence to recreate what it is I'm up to into the next most useful version of who I can be and how I can be of help in the world. Thank you for taking the time!

I took up embroidery for a very simple reason: to be able to do something productive while waiting around. Instead of scrolling on a phone. This little travel pack suits that greatly. I almost know just enough to be able to do that!

I had a breakdown 23 years ago due to untreated post natal depression and a bad marriage and I even tried to commit suicide. I had counselling and then 11 and a half years ago I was diagnosed with Hodgekins lymphoma no one expected me to cope and were basically waiting for me to have another breakdown but guess what I didn't, the strategies I learnt in my previous counselling helped me big time. I'm 11 years in remission now and have an incredible 2nd husband. For my mental health I know that I need to be creative and be outside in my garden. Enjoy the little things like the smell of the earth after it rains, gardening, be creative, cuddle a loved one or a pet.

I would just like to my comment, I have learnt that life isn't about the latest phone or being thin, it's about enjoying the little things like rain on your skin on a hot summers day, your adult child saying love you mum, walking barefoot on the grass, just sitting in the kitchen talking with loved ones, completing a craft project

I saw a video sometime in the last year where someone said that the time will pass anyway in reference to something taking up a lot of time and it's helped me a lot. If the project takes 5 years so what! The time would have passed anyway and the process was a much the point as the finished thing anyway.

I love yarn and to crochet. If it is crochetable, I want to crochet it. Also I can embroider, cross-stitch, can sew with fabric but in all honesty feel I'm not very good at it. Once I dared to call myself a fiber artist. After all yarn is a fiber and I create projects with it so does that not make me an artist in my own right? The backlash I received was immense, so I stopped publicly saying I am a fiber artist. Though in private, to myself, that is another subject. Oh and those who did not like me using fiber artist to describe myself, that kept on with their criticism till I stopped. I have heard one or two use fiber artist to describe themselves and when describing themselves, they have no problem with using it.
