You might consider a basic tool set for mechanical problems with your vehicle. A few basic tools such as basic wrenches, screw drivers, test lights, multimeters, hose clamps will go a long way to making a bad day in the field into a great day in the field!!!

A stellar comment! I ironically carry just that along with a small air compressor, tire patch kit and a jumper pack for jumping a vehicle, if needed. All have been used and saved my bacon more than once. Super great comment!

I think you hit the nail on the head with your views on what makes the ideal shotgun for the upland hunter that is going to cover a lot of ground in a day's hunt.

You are saying the load calls for 30 grns. of powder minus 1.5 equals 26.5 grns. Load # 90820-1203 starts with 28 grns. not #90820=1204.

Matt, I like to carry a camera with me on my hunts. I've been using a SpiderPro Spider X Camera Holster... but it moves around more than I like. Your mount looks more secure. What are you using to hang that mirrorless from your vest?

@@tomholloway2106 - I’m running a super simple spring clip that I drilled a hole through so it’s large enough to accept a screw that holds it onto the bottom of the camera. It’s the perfect length and width that it just feeds onto the MOLLE of my waistbelt. Super simple and functions great!

Length of pull has nothing to do with crook of your arm, 2 to 3 fingers widths off the thumb knuckle to your face, short better than to long, most people have lop too short,also changes on angle of elbow

How good are setters for duck hunting?
@marcosortega7741
@marcosortega7741 Ай бұрын
Late season pheasants call for a 12 gauge with #4s, you are going after a tough bird, if you cripple them they are tough to find, and generally you need to make longer shots, quicker shots. Ruffed grouse, sharptail, quail, partridge, doves etc you can harvest as long as you touch them. There's a big difference between pheasant and everything else in my opinion.

Have you figured out cost savings reloading your own? I've been debating reloading for ducks and geese
@finalrise
@finalrise Ай бұрын
@@adamwells6355 if you’re loading tss, and shooting more shells as you would waterfowling, it’d be a pretty substantial savings vs. factory tss offerings. I primarily load for turkey and while I don’t have the exact numbers off the top of my head, it’s substantially cheaper, after the upfront investment. If you’re getting into tss, I’d strongly look at a 28 gauge. They’re lower payloads, but kill anything very very well. Less powder usage, less shot usage and a lot more “bang for your buck”. There’s a lot of great reloading groups on FB with some duplex loads to make them even more cost friendly, as well as fold crimp options that allow you to reuse your hulls. I’d “being with the end in mind” and decide what exactly you want them for and how many you anticipate to shoot a year. Work back from there and see if the investment and potential savings is worth diving in 👊🏼

enjoying the series. Maybe it was just the camera angles, but at 3:57 I cringed. Looked to be a shot right towards the other hunter in orange. Hope to get my lab and I out here in texas and do some quail hunting. But im getting discouraged. Lots of walking last year and only 1 covey of quail to be found. Also hunted a cpl pheasant spots and never saw one.
@finalrise
@finalrise Ай бұрын
@@rbljackson 100% the camera angle friend. Wouldn’t even walk a field with someone who didn’t stay in line and safe. They’re just birds and never worth someone’s well being. We watched a lot fly away on this trip for that reason. Always okay to let a bird fly and value that you feel the same way as well. Hope things turn around for yall on quail and bird contacts. Always say a bad day of hunting is better than a day on the couch! Appreciate ya watching and for the kind words and emphasis on safety 👊🏼

I can only shoot 2 3/4 ammo out of my shotgun. What would recommend for chukar 4 shot or 5 shot?
@finalrise
@finalrise Ай бұрын
@@gusbuster8068 I base shot and choke combos on my shot opportunities, which are usually on pointed birds in that 30-40 yard range. I shoot 7.5s for about everything, we primarily chukar hunt, but have a handful of 6s if the birds are jumpy and not letting us get on to of them. I wouldn’t go larger than 6s personally 👍🏼

What are the dimensions of a vertical water bladder that will fit in the summit vest (I just got mine today). It looks like it is supposed to hang by that hook then fit in the middle pocket just below the mesh?? I measured that pocket at 6 inches wide and most of the bladders I see are wider than that. I assume bladder is not just supposed to hang free into the game bag where a rooster spur could jab it?

It would be awesome if you guys came out with a modular pocket that a camera can be put in. Having a camera in the field for landscape photography or to take a picture for a beautiful point up on a ridge… that’s what I’m all about. That being said keeping cameras clean dry and safe has been a challenge. I’d pop a camera pocket on and just run 1 shell pocket
@finalrise
@finalrise Ай бұрын
@@TannerEly couldn’t agree more. Depending on my mood, I carry a a6300 with a 28-200 tamron or a ZV1. The 28-200 on the crop sensor has some good punch and makes for a great camera to carry on long days. Both of these setup fit into our pouches without issue accomplishing what you’re describing, without needing to purchase or swap a pouch. If you’re running a larger setup, there are camera bags that attach to the the MOLLE on our belt. Check out our film with Seth Bynum from this year. He runs a 3rd party camera pouch for his kit on our vest. Hope this helps 👊🏼
