Thanks for subscribing and watching. The rod rest is a Std Ian Golds 6ft match but I've added the single rod holder (Orange bit) from a company called Spooligan. They make various attachments you can add to various rod rests. If I need 2 rods , I just switch back to the twin version again from Spooligan. Hope that helps 👍

Hello and thanks for watching and your question. I can honestly say it's the warmest suit I've had. You wouldn't want to walk to far in it as you will overheat. It's also been ok in the rain so far. I've had this one about 3 years but only wear it in very cold weather so it's wearing very well. I bought it in a sale from Angling Direct when I worked there but you can pick them up after the winter season cheap, ready for next winter. I paid £55 for the jacket and bib n brace (Half price) 👍

Great video, though I prefer fishing closer towards the breakwater, technically fishing in the harbour is prohibited, but saying that, at the end of November I saw a very large Sole taken in the the harbour, must have been trying to overwinter there! If you want to see Bass close up in the summer, try around the old trawler about an hour after bottom of the tide, see no end feeding in less that 2 feet of water. Thanks again look forward to the next one.

I have heard that our coast is full of Sprats at the moment and most of the Whiting are up in the water chasing them, hence most anglers are either catching Dabs or scrawny Whiting or in your case Starfish, which suggests there is not much on the bottom…

Good morning Dave,really enjoying working through your very entertaining and informative videos.Can I ask a question please…when targeting bigger fish like smoothhounds,what typical line strength would you use for main line,rig bodies and snoods?
@david892006
@david892006 21 күн бұрын
Hello Stuart. Thanks for watching. Hopefully you will pick up plenty of tips and information. If I'm specifically targeting bigger fish (Smoothounds, Rays etc) I still use something like a .38 mm diameter line, typically 15lb ish. I then use a 70lb shock leader which enables me to use up to 7oz leads. Hooklinks are a minimum 30lb or 40 or 50lb hooklinks in a lower diameter. You have to remember the hooklink takes the full strain on the cast when using a pulley rig. Hope this helps, if not , feel free to message me back 👍
@david892006

Should have added, rig bodies are also 70lb .

Thanks Dave,really appreciate you taking the time and trouble to reply.Looks like I am on the right track regarding the business end of the tackle.I have a couple of vintage ( old!) Daiwa Moonraker rods and Ryobi beach reels that have been gathering dust in my garage for years,so it is well overdue to give them a work out.I expect they will prove rather heavy for casting in particular but if things go well and I catch the sea fishing bug,I can look to upgrade them later all being well. Tight lines and thanks again Stuart

@stuartwebster829 Hello Stuart. To be perfectly honest, those snags used to be first 2 bays to the left of the access. As far as I'm aware , there were very few reports last year 2024 , of the snags being there. These beaches do change every year . Other spots when the hounds are 'In' , Bacton, behind the gas terminal, Walcott , and all of the shingle beaches at various times. Just keep a look out on the NAC page 👍
