I get odd looks, inquiring looks, lots of questions about my recumbent trike. I run on the right on trails and everytime there is one hard-core rider that never follows the basic rule of the road,, pass on the left. I have noticed some riders that spend enormous amounts of cash on a carbon Fibre bike and all the kit, but they can not maintain 25kph , we have all seen the type, similar to the guy that buys the Harley but can't ride, prestige riders only

Where are the hills? Wish we had these paved masterpieces. Recently bought a Terratrike Path 2007-2011 vintage 3 spd now 18 speed and never take it out in traffic. A trail like this is so much more inviting.

I bought a cheap Terratrike Path 3 speed and changed it into an 18 speed The front cranks are 155 mm with 24-50 rings and the back 9 speed cassette is 32-12 I am running 20" wheels so I have a really low first gear and a low top gear. So like a 4x4 with low range I have 6 gears for horrible hills and I have the 50 tooth for the 9 gears in my high range. I made the drastic low gears for off road gravel and unfortunately going up steep gravel the back end spins as there is just not enough weight on the back wheel. Pavement is not a problem just steep gravel. Amazed at how stable the trike is and cornering does not require me to lean over as much as I thought I would have to. Non competitive but still enjoy speed and comfort , both my Bacchetta Giro A20 touring bent and the Terratrike are very comfortable .

I'm way late to the party but maybe someone can benefit from my comments. I've ridden many century rides both metric and imperial. I rode my first century when I was 55. I'm 74 now, have had cancer x 3 and a stroke. So, I've slowed down a little these days. By your description of how you felt I would guess you hadn't trained using a heart rate monitor properly set to your level of fitness. An athletic heart is different in that the zones and max heart rate is calculated differently. It's not just 220 - age. Since your ride was not supported I wonder if you ate and drank enough during the ride. Riding 70 miles before the Big Day is OK. You don't need any more than that. You do need to train and rest properly before the ride. Another thing is you do need is to know the route topology and train for the tough parts. I found HIIT training to work absolute wonders for my stamina and made the miles so much more enjoyable on the day. There is no fail, only learn. Good video!

Have an ICE Sprint X 26 RS tour trike. Like the look of the VTX but concerned about how rough the ride will be in the UK. You seem to ride on nice smooth roads and paths. YOu are more airodynamic than an upright, buthave 50% more rolling resistance due to 3rd wheel

I do find it amusing that 100 miles is seen as an accomplishment these days. In my teens just rode 120 miles with a cheap steel bike with a few gears, with no gels, energy drinks, fancy cycling clothes etc, just football shorts a teeshirt and trainers, wasnt a big deal. Atfer the 1st time did it every sunday if I recall. Nowadays though get a sore bum after 10 miles, wouldn't want to do 100+ now due to the discomfort on a bicycle. Have an ICE Sprint X 26 tour now. Even though comfortable, too slow to want to travel any long distances. I like the idea of an ICE VTX but is it much faster than the SPirint X tour, is it a harsh bumpy ride?

I like to know if you are still riding. I live in Phoenix Az. And it’s February and the temperature is great during this time of the year.. I have a Terra Trike All Terrain the my constant speed is about 8 mph. I could go a little faster but it’s hard to maintain. We don’t have many hills here. But in the summer the temperatures will drain you. I would like to see more videos to inspire me to ride more often. I’m retired military and the Air Force base is 12 miles from where I live. At 72 years of age it’s hard to just get started. I’m just riding in my neighborhood and the park by my home… until I build my stamina up enough to go on farther rides. Looking for more videos. Blessings to you.

Why blow the stop light? To many of us are getting killed because drivers blow them we shouldn't.

Apparently, the "motivated rider" was only motivated by making videos for KZbin, not by riding. But that was obvious with the choice of a trike. How motivated do you have to be in a Wall-E chair? You have to ask yourself who would consider a $1500.00 drone an investment. Maybe a CanAm is more your speed and motivation level.

Daily I do hills upto 15% gradient, not hard atall on the trike, I have altered the gearing though. It was hard climbing a 30% gradient though. On the ICE Sprint X Tour have a rohloff hub and 44-32-22 chanrings. I prefer climbing on my bicycles though as faster. What I do not like on the trike though is that with marathon plus tires, the rear end loses traction on rough road at speed on bends.

Please don't run STOP SIGNS, it sets more bad examples plus you don't need to become a dead Cyclists.

Why is it that everyone that I watch blow through STOP SIGNS and I never get a comment back. So many cyclists get killed each year by either we blow through a STOP SIGN or a vehicle dies. Not setting good examples

Who cares about achieving a 100 mile ride. I've been on two tours; one solo supported pulling a trailer which was loaded with way too much gear. The other was without any gear, and was supported. I've read, and watched A LOT of articles and videos on touring. The majority of recumbent trike riders STILL ride like upright bicycle riders. Recumbent trikes are completely different from upright bicycle riding, in average speed and every other way. Just enjoy your ride! No matter how slow you go or the distance. Almost all upright bicycle riders are obsessed with speed, average speed and distance. All they see on their rides is about 30 feet in front of them. Recumbent Trike riders NEED to completely forsake that upright bicycle mindset. Unless you are getting paid to ride long-distances and average high speeds, drop the mentality. And while you're at it, get rid of those upright bicycle clipless bicycle racing shoes; Which are NOT comfortable, cause Hot foot syndrome and possibly nerve damage as well. Why Recumbent Trike riders continue to CLING ON to the Tour De France racing mindset is beyond me. Go check out "Trike Hobo Steve" on KZbin channel. He addresses these issues and gives good advice on the solutions to break away from the upright bicycle mentality. Recumbent trikes are NOT bicycles.

I noticed that the speed limit is 45 MPH and you where doing 40, however there was a construction zone you went through at that speed and construction zones usually have reduced speed limits. so technically you where breaking the speed limit and could have been tagged for a ticket.

I average just under 8 mph on a 15-mile mostly flat, with some very slight grades, paved path. I don't pass anything with wheels and don't expect to or care. But I am seriously considering a motor.

Looking into getting one soon. Question, when you hook up the phone to the beacon, can you control when to record? I heard that if it’s just the beacon, it starts recording as soon as the drone takes flight.

I really like you videos and narrative. It’s apparent that you are a beast on hills and flats. 10 to 12 mph on hills and 16 on flats for a distance is commendable on a recumbent trike. My son owns a bike shop in western Washington and I was always ashamed for not joining his rides. It was just torcher for me on hands, back and buttox. Then he had me joine him on a Catrike 559 and the love of cycling was back! I’ve owned a Catrike road AR that introduced me to suspension and now I just purchased a Stein Trike Wild One with 4” travel, front and rear. It is phenomenal! I’m 73 years young and recently had both hips replace and riding in any terrain is no problem. Now working on getting back the endurance after about 14 months of couch riding waiting for my surgeries. Keep up the great videos. God bless!

George, I just started riding a trike about three years ago after nearly 17 years of not riding anything. Part of getting back out there was watching your videos on the beautiful trails where you live. They really keep me going in the winter when weather forces me inside and onto rollers (I ride an ICE Sprint). Hope to see some new ones soon -- it's been too long!

I’ve become a frequent viewer of your videos. I do plan on subscribing but I wanted to make a comment regarding this particular video. I’ve been riding bicycles since I was a child. About 25 years ago I began riding more seriously. Not racing, my competitive spirit is with myself. I’ve ridden 2 wheeled recumbents and this year I’m adding a trike to the fleet. Some of the important lessons that I have learned have to do with safety. I ride on roads and trails but regardless of where I’m riding, safety comes first…always. One of the most important safety rules is to not wear any type of ear bud, ear phone, helmet with speaker, etc.or anything that would impede my hearing. Besides sight, hearing is one of your best defenses while riding. Just a heads up to you brother. I want you to keep on making these videos.

Boy having that camera on a Diamond bike kinda go me sea sick, back and forth. Get that back on your trike, it is so much smoother on your , even your drone is better. Also if my wife and i get into your area, I would like to go riding with you. We may be in your area spring of 22, we are not sure at this time.
